If you have not played EQ2 yet..

Come in, pull up a chair, let's discuss all things Ryzom-related.

I'm allergic to any medieval fantasy or futuristic science fiction mmos.
Why the heck should i leave Ryzom wich has a quite original/unseen background, eh?

Oh Jena, i'll never understand mmo players; being a sort of fps vet here:
you test a game (demo, beta, friends who already have it...) then buy it if you enjoyed it; once you got it you like it or not, if you don't like it you just wave off, find something else and don't try to pull others with you...

And, erm... «ewww the patches killed the game», sorry but that sort of complaining has got a looooong beard (could use a shave).
But as you won't come back, you won't notice how the game looks like after these patches, and especially after everyone else got "the new way to go" and is performing pretty well.
Duster, Dragon Order of Abylus.
Kitins, Gooed creatures: the Dragons are back to track you down!
Great Dragon: sooner or later you will pay for what you did...

JK did the same thing on the US forum.

How desperate do you have to be to pull this kind of garbage.

I agree with jksmith.

EQ2 is indeed better than Ryzom.

Actually, I believe there are other places to say "this game sucks, play XXX instead" than the said games official forums.
Whats more, EQ2 rocks ! eh ? no I never played it, neither did I play EQ1, but this should keep your propaganda going shouldnt it ? if not, at least it will make you happy ;)
Now, all is well that ends well, you go back to your game, I go back to mine, I was mature enough so as not to whine on WoW's forums or any other game's just because I didnt like it, you were not, topic closed, enjoy your MMO :o )

YAWN!

Generic fantasy... dull.

What's even more distressing is people wanting to bring tired old stuff to Ryzom as well.

Dungeons? Ugh...

Phat Lewt? Ugh...

Ryzom is it's own thing.

And it rawks.

I have faith the the coolness to come and even now you can have a good time making up your own content, getting a guild hall, an apartment and fighting your way to other lands.

The community here is actually helpful and relatively a**hole free, which is a FIRST in my online gaming experience.

EQ2 is a MUCH better game and if you are maintaining the attitude that Ryzom is this and that but you have not actually tried EQ2 then I guess all I can do is feel sorry for you..

Seriously, this is from one concerned mmo player trying to appeal to others!

Try the game guys, you will not be disappointed like I was in Ryzom...

Take my board rights lol I'll just go back to playing a better game that your too stubborn to try because you do not like SOE or the Everquest line..

Who is the one that is close minded now???

You sounds like a door to door religious zealot...

And losing board rights for breaking their posting rules is just and completely in their ability.

People have different tastes in games, let them make up their own minds on what to play, because they will enjoy things that you won't. And likewise things you look for, they will not find enjoyable.

What I never understand is why people that dislike a game have to convince other people to dislike it as well. We are all able to make out own mind about the state of the game. And we all could get enough information of the state of other games if we wish to leave.

Reading some EQ2 forums and WoW forums. Both these games will suffer the same fate as all the other games before them. People will get bored after a month or 2. Its nothing completely new anymore, just a remake of other games with different graphics, a slightly different skill set, different mobs. But its all still the same basically.

Although I know you shouldn't feed Trolls, perhapse they can also mention what happened regarding the English (EURO) customer base of EQ2 during the weekend. I believe their forums are freely available and I suggest looking at the Server Specific Forum for "Runnyeye".

PS: You may also find the rather Draconian Moderator messages as well.

I had no problems with EQ2 at the weekend. Its a different game and one I personally happen to enjoy as much as Ryzom.

and what makes Ryzom any different? Apart from they aren't providing the content that every other game of this type is?

Its got a better graphics engine.....and a seasonal world.....thats about it. I'm a fanboi of either game whilst they keep me entertained, and its keeping me playing at the moment - actually its the people in the guild that are keeping me playing - but they'd better add some content soon or I am going to run out of things to do in game.

I'd love it if Ryzom replaced dungeons and phat lewt with something better but replacing them with nothing -well I'm not convinced yet. We'll see what the guild v guild stuff is like.

I just can't imagine how anyone in good faith could recommend giving SOE money, especially people who played the original EQ and certainly know better. Imagine 4+ years of a "patch one" every month. Mix that with their slogan "You're in our world now b****", well, you get my point. :P

4 years of patch one ok... but people have been playing for 4 years, something must have been done right then? And it's not entirely true either, as much as I hate the original everquest for it's crazy race for power which killed my server (PvP team) the game had many things right: magic fighting was more than constantly hitting the same key; there was diversity in the game world even if in the end the xp gained in place A would equate xp gained in place B.

For years of Patch one... I'd nominate DAOC and the heavy nerf swings, EQ nerfs are just a joke. Lack of insight and thinking players are dumb is what caused most problems on EQ.

My active MMO's : http://unlife.com/extern-use/mmo.jpg

EQ's no longer in the list, it sits next to Neocron, Asheron's Call, Asheron's Call 2, Earth and Beyond. The ones in this list are still worth my attention and the money I pay for them... well that was true until this morning when I cancelled Ryzom. Ryzom can be a good game, I'm sure it will... but I'm not gonna wait forever. I may come back... unless something else keeps my interest.
