When will Guild Wars be released?

The beta begins in October. We will take as much time as necessary to balance and polish the game based on feedback received during the beta period, and anticipate that we will release Guild Wars by early 2005.

How much will Guild Wars cost?

Guild Wars will be priced at a comparable cost to other first tier PC games.

Will there be a monthly fee for Guild Wars?

No, there will not be a monthly subscription fee of any kind, anywhere in the world.
doesnt mean it'll be a gd game ;)

Have you SEEN WoW content?? massive at launch...more to come vs. SoR No Content at launch, something to come.

Reality check here. SoR really launched too early and their revamping of the combat/spell casting engine as well as not real content in game has finally popped the pretty graphics balloon that floated us away into Atysian wonderland. Still a pretty game with potantial, just got launched too early. I cannot imagine the release content was the final goal of the DEV's... seems a mere shell, like simply the ecosystem vs. the players.
Agreed, Mr. (or Ms.) Unregistered.

Reality check? Those who defend Ryzom so strongly have moved a long way from reality. In some cases, they use examples from WoW and EQ2 boards that actually undercut their own arguments about how great Ryzom is at the moment. Kinda sad, really.

The first step to combatting Ryzom addiction is to admit that Ryzom has problems. The next step is up to you. :)

Oh, wait, I do NOT claim that Ryzom has no problems.
I you could only read my fierce critics in the german community forums then you wouldn't have a shadow of a doubt that I always try to be as objective as possible.

But the point for me is: Which MMORPG suits me most? Which game offers me the most freedom of doing what I want to do when I want to do it? Which game has real innovations and does not go the "traditional way of success" to assure cash flow? And last but not least, which game offers the best community.

Answer? Ryzom and Guild Wars. Yes, for me. That does not mean that those games have to be the "matching" ones for everybody.

I don't want to play elfes or dwarves for another 200 years. I don't want to be limited in what I can do.
Play a warrior? Oh, then you cannot heal, you cannot cast damage spells, unless you create a second character.
Play a priest? Oh, then you cannot fight, you cannot........., unless........
Know what I mean?
And do I really want to play with the folks known as "Battlenet-Kiddies" that buy their Characters on eBay and think and act as if they are the best of the best? Meh.....

In Ryzom I can do what I want. Yes, I admit there is no other reason for doing anything but having fun doing it, since its lack of content. But Ryzom is not meant to have no content forever. The story just didn't make it into the release but it will be patched in later. When? When it's done! ;)

And Guild Wars has a new exciting class called "Mesmer". I just love to use my opponents weapons and forces against him. Necro is also quite cool. Just ressurrect some corpses and let 'em fight for you. Lovely.

Conclusion: There is no real problem. GW won't have a monthly fee so I can play both. If I want perfect PvP and Quest-guided style of playing then I play GW. If I want the freedom of doing what I want then I play Ryzom.
And again, that's only my opinion. Doesn't mean that is has to be a doctrine for anybody. ;)
