PvP Question for the Devs

Post by zumwalt »

Cerest posted:

* Next step of PvP: New PvP dedicated area: Guilds vs Guilds, Kami vs Karavan factions...

What if you are a multi-racial guild?

We have Fryos, Tryker and Matis in our guild (soon to have Zorat)

But the problem is, Kami and Karavan are opposite each other and if you impliment such a drastic play change in the game, won't this re-write your initial goal of all civilizations working together to counter balance a growing Kitin threat?

Doesn't this go agains the meeting that is to be held on Sunday?

Seriously, the Fyros meeting is Karavan going to Kami territory to speak on unity of all races.

Would this mean the opposite and do to factions we are going to be forced into a PvP mode?

I am just looking for a more definate answer, as to this will effect practically all guilds on the server that are multi-racial, INCLUDING the fact that I craft and train in both Kami and Karavan equipment on my Matis character.

Could this be another prequill to another stanza whipe?

This would allow us to once again re-align our stanzas to the new pvp system?

Thanks ahead of time.

the event you speak about is an event planned by the NA event team, not by nevrax :p

An individuals/guilds faction is wholly independent of their racial faction. The racial faction only gives a starting point, you can offset and over come that. I addition, it *is* possible to gain both high Kami and Karavan fame, but you have to be very carefull in what tasks and quests you perform.

Aside from that, this is to be specific areas, little arenas that you can go do to challange other individuals or groups, not forcing everyone on a game-wide scale to suddenly become PVP.

I would tend to agree except 1 point mentioned in Cerests post.

***Kami vs Karavan factions***

This has me thinking that actually if you have horrible Kami faction (say -100) any Kami can target you as a threat and kill you anywhere, and vice versa, this is why I am asking for clerification.

I don't ever plan on being KOS to either ever, but depending on how they do the faction changes, I was just looking for someone to clerify what the long term goals are going to be.

I do understand that when outposts are implamented, that PvP can and will occur inside all outposts, this is do to the ability to gain control of and defend outposts.

I have held my tongue until now, but I have always thought these multi-racial, all inclusive guilds were a bad idea. Granted, there is not a lot of story available, but all inclusive guilds are, imo, contrary to the to the story that has been presented so far.

And in that spirit, I invite everyone who would like to RP the story of Atys to join The Birthright, a Matis only RP guild. (but only if your character is Matisian :) )

Yeah, for the longest time I was thinking the way guilds were going was contrary to what Nevrax had in mind. Some of this was affirmed when they locked down the roots. Of course, then they go and decide to have that summit Sunday and now I don't know what they have in mind.

Edit: Oh, and the Defenders of Zoran, a Zoria only guild, looks forward to smacking you all around in the future. ;)

You have to understand, in a pure roleplaying sense, following the groundwork of the originator is not really what they have in mind.

That is where creativity comes in.

There are those that want to see all factions holding there own ground, then there are those that want to see all factiosn working like a well oiled machine against the chaos.

There are those that welcome all, and those that welcome none, extremes on both ends of the rainbow.

The story has a plot that is unfolding, how we exist in the plot is how we choose to roleplay the storyline.

I agree that the Kami/Karavan tension adds some problems to multi-race guilds. But I think it is a very realistic problem. It is very similar to the problems in the real world we encounter between religious law and national law. Each person has to choose where they stand.

It adds an interesting dynamic to the game. We all know we must work together to fight off the iminent Kitin Invasion, but the different races don't get along.

it's not contradicting, nevrax locked the roots, NA event team makes the summit
