Re: Style & Ryzom wear!
I think a lot of it has to do with the quality of the mats you use to make the armour.
If you use basic mats you will get basic armour, if you use choice mats you will get flashy stuff.
Or at least that's how I think it works. If I am wrong can someone correct me?

Basic, fine, choice, excellent or supreme mats don't effect the look of items. They only effects the values of an item (like max damage or durability).
Looking depends of used craft plans (like medium or high quality) and race differences (like zorai oder matis).

Re: Style & Ryzom wear!
I don't think that's entirely true.zaras wrote:Basic, fine, choice, excellent or supreme mats don't effect the look of items. They only effects the values of an item (like max damage or durability).

There are 3 armour type craft plans - light, medium or heavy (not high). Yes they each look different but within each type you can also make better/different looking armour.
I currently have a set of light armour (which I bought) that has gold bands and stuff. That is NOT controlled by the craft plan because I have made light armour that looks NOTHING like the armour I have.
So it is either the level of the crafter or, as I said, the type of mats used - i.e. basic, fine, choice etc. that affects the look of the armour.
Can someone please confirm which is true?

Not exactly... there are 3 types of armor (and weapons) light/medium/heavy, and then in each of those three there are three levels of quality, basic/medium/high. The medium and high look progressively more 'fancy', just as with weapons. QL 250 basic heavy armor looks the same as QL 1 basic heavy armor.philu wrote:So it is either the level of the crafter or, as I said, the type of mats used - i.e. basic, fine, choice etc. that affects the look of the armour.
The different Quality (basic/medium/high) have no effect at all on the stats of the armor, but it does look much better.
Re: Style & Ryzom wear!
There's another factor. The appearence definately depends on the type of mat. For example, if you use motega wood for your armor shell you'll get blue armor, whereas if you use eyota wood you'll get red armor. So if you're experimenting with different qualities, make sure you're using the same type of mat, otherwise you won't know what's causing the difference.philu wrote:I don't think that's entirely true.

Re: Style & Ryzom wear!
It's not the type of mat that affects the colour though, it's the COLOUR of the mats you use. Each mat has a colour and the most commonly used colour is the final colour of the armour.bcharles wrote:There's another factor. The appearence definately depends on the type of mat. For example, say you are crafting a medium vest - that takes 17 pieces of material (6 armour shell, 5 lining, 4 stuffing 2 armour clip). If you used 7 purple mats, 6 blue and 4 red, the armour would be purple. If you used 7 blue it would be blue and so on...
If you right click a mat and view it's info, the colour is listed there.

I think you'll find I didn't say that.bcharles wrote:The color of the mat depends on the color of the mat?
I said it's the COLOUR of the mat not the TYPE and the most used colour affects the final colour of the ARMOUR.
Read before flame.

But the color of the mat does depend on the type of the mat. All desert motega wood is blue. All desert eyota wood is red. You can tell ahead of time what color something is by what type it is.
