3 days ago, I started a little fighting again (I'm a harvester most of the time), just to see what all the that whining is all about. I'm a lvl 70ish one handed melee fighter (55 3 days ago).

So I was expecting the worst, got my best gear on, made myself the best wepon and shield I could and started fighting the lower level mobs around Pyr. They didn't give any reasonable xp (logically) and I got some decent hits by them, but nothing to really worry about. So I went to 4-ways and Oasis, hunting the slighly bigger mobs around my level .. and guess what .. after a few deaths (ok, next time don't attack that one :D ) I found the ideal mob to hunt and I was getting around 1.5k - 2k xp / mob without risking death. So ... I tought what are they all whining about??? I'm a one handed fighter, and I waste stamina like crazy, I'm doing less damage on average then a two handed melee fighter and I can hunt mobs wich give me 2k xp (even 3k xp if I wanne push my luck and risk death if unlucky).

So .. to all those fighters around, try to spend more time on your gear and such. As a harvester and (a bit) a crafter I have easy access to good gear, I have plenty of cash to buy the things I want. With 10 q100 jewels with hp bonus and some q100-q120 armour with decent hp bonus, playing solo appears to be pretty easy to me. Having 750 additional hp gets you a long way, just take the time to look for the things you really need.

I agree with mrozzy here. Make sure you have decent gear and you will be much more successful. Melee is still more difficult after the patch and there should be some more tweaks but overall I think its good and doable while still having plenty of fun.

if being creative is a problem or, god forbid, a pain for you i think you're in the wrong place. TV may be more to your liking.

I tried fighting solo for a bit last night (after patch 21) at the 4-way in Oasis. Pre-patch 1 I fought strictly in max dodge light armor, and that is what I'm still equipped in. I am 85 2H, 73 off mag, 61 off afl, 55 def afl. I am amazed that through the three fights against an lvl 87 mob, that I did not dodge even once. Pre-patch 1, I dodged at least 3/4 of the time which I will not argue is/was too much. But to not dodge at all anymore in max dodge light armor is a bit ridiculous? Apparently from the posts, the heavy dodge armor succeeds and it inheritently has a dodge penalty...go figure. Oh and the lvl 87 mob netted 660 exp and several minutes of downtime to heal.

I'll try again today after I manage to find a healing partner, but soloing is obviously out unless I invest in a set of heavy dodge armor. The patch on Tuesday is my breaking point. I love to harvest and I do spend the majority of my time harvesting/crafting, but right now I'm sick of it with having had no real break from it for a couple weeks now. If things aren't much improved Tuesday, I won't be renewing my subscription.

I dont understand why people who didnt really study the mechanics before the patch keep making observations like...."oh its just like prepatch1 now"

silly people

sitting and waiting is boring, you have to do that alot, and you have to be prepared to die alot right now...not being able to ddge 50% of the time against things your level is realyl stupid if you have max dodge armor

And the following observations were made based upon your extensive study of game mechanics both before and after then patch?
sitting and waiting is boring,
you have to do that alot,
and you have to be prepared to die alot right now..
.
not being able to ddge 50% of the time against things your level is realyl stupid if you have max dodge armor
I'm sure I'm missing something, and I'm sure you'll explain it to me, but it seems to me that your observations are every bit as subjective as the one you accuse people of being silly for making. So, what am I missing?

it's incredibly easy to make max dodge armor. i grind crafting with max dodge armor. having max dodge can't mean much or it wouldn't be so easy to make.

nah i think now the complaint really is the magic players can use vs the abilities mobs have

gingo's and ragus near the green seed camp hit me with there special ability 100% of the time, meaning I am stunned ALOT, and what appears to be blinded ALOT

I go some battles about 20 seconds before i can swing or do self heal.

but the casters can't land squat on the same mobs

i dunno, i still find enjoyment in it

patch 21 did fix some of the damage and dodging abilities. i was able to take on 2 scowling gingos without the fear of death. i'm lvl 92 and i had on my q70 armour that i wear, with my jewels and armour i have over 1700 hp.

thing is i'm in a guild with crafters and they make us good armour and jewels. a lot of people are not in a guild or their guild has no crafters to make them armour.

as for tinpony, try SOLOing without the healer. you would go down.

my biggest beef was the carnivores would attack you and you had little or no choice but to fight them and they'd pile up on you.

my solution to the problem is this:

if you are well above the level of the mob then it will not auto-aggro on you. so basically if you can smoke the mob in under 3 shots it will not attack you on site.

this way they can keep the mobs at the same strength but they won't be an annoying pain in the butt that may or may not threaten your life
