Actually, I picked Ryzom over World of Warcraft (and I was in the beta) and EverQuest 2 specifically because I'm tired of slogging through each company's perspective on standard Tolkien fantasy. I couldn't help but see EverQuest as a D&D MMORPG, and I couldn't help but see World of Warcraft as Blizzard's EverQuest. I wanted something new and original. The skills system, crafting, and all the rest of Ryzom's features are just icing on the cake.Unregistered wrote:its not the typical medieval fantasy mmorpg.. Its a crazy sci fi theme.
I dont know WHO in their right mind would try to make a game like this appealing to the general mmorpg public or think that it would sell good.
what they should of done was make an improved dark age of camelot and than they would see a lot of players.. someone didn't do any research of what sells and what doesn't in the mmorpg genre.
with the launch of Wow and EQ2 the only mmorpg's that really have a chance of growing big are ones based on medival fantasy PvP/Guild v Guild because that market doesnt really have much competition in mmorpg's other than DAOC..
