I'm a little confused regarding some of the magic spells. When using spells such as blind and slow attack speed the system info reports that a link is set up, then as soon as I attack the mob it describes the link as being broken.
Does this mean that the effect of these spells (and similar) is removed as soon as you attack? If so that kind of rules them out for soloing doesn't it?
Any advice appreciated, thanks.

For soloing fear/madness is a better option.

not completely tru... the spells will last for 3 seconds when you cast them.. or is that gone sinse the patch?

Basically yes, if you do anything such as attack then the link is broken and the blind spell ends. fear is usful though. cast your damage spell at the highest distance you can, then follow up with fear.
mob will flee (or resist!), so when it has got a good distance, cast you damage spell again.
It will soon come back and start attacking again, so use fear again.
Repeat until either you or mob end up dead!

Fear has to be used with care, if a damaged mob is a social one it will bring back friends if it passes close to any.
Root seems to be working a lot better I have found, and with mob HPs lower and I can cast root cast root etc fairly good. Enchnating root into your amp is also good as it speeds up the process and helps in resists.
