OK, now I'm pissed

Post by otto1978 »

So I DL the trial, which takes me like 2.5 hours and finally get the game up and running, only problem is that I keep crashing HARD every few minutes. So I was about to go out and pickup myself a copy of the game from the store, thinking that I must've gotten corrupted data somehow. Now I find that there's not even an uninstall file included in this crap, WTF? Am I just supposed to delete it all out manually or something?

Alot of people experience this problem when they first start playing. If you have a Linksys router, the fix is fairly easy.

Go to this thread for detailed instructions:

If you have some other type of router, this still might fix the problem, so its worth trying.

As for the uninstall, I have no idea.

Run the setup.exe again it will give an option to either modify, repair or remove...as simple as that.

Also, if you're running an ATI card, you might want to switch to OpenGL. To do that, run ryzom_configuration_rd.exe in your main Ryzom directory, and under the Display settings, make sure OpenGL is selected.

hu ,
are you SURE of that ? I have been said that I should use DIRECT3D for a ATI video card.

It's the other way around. If you are using an ATI card you must use Directx/Direct3D. DO NOT use OpenGL. ATI has some OpenGL API issues.

The router issue will not cause you to crash, but it will cause you to go link dead after about 10 minutes of play. If that is the case, check the boards for the fix (it's just an IP forwarding thing and I think is only a Linksys issue).

actually you're wrong

i HAVE an ati card, when it was set to auto which sets the video to direct3d and my game locks up either after 20 mins or right away

switched it to opengl and it's worked perfectly fine

the actual issue is with direct3d and problems inherrent in the programming of it and poor ati drive support for the correct protocols
