Offensive Magic and Fight
Offensive Magic and Fight
HI all. I intend to specialize in Offensive Magic so I am wondering: Would there be really any reason to get some Fight? After playing a bit last night having taken some fight levels (Magic 13 / Fight 6), it seems that my magic will do me just as good as any weapon, so I'm thinking that perhaps I would be better served by taking some crafting (to make wands and whatnot). Opinions?
Re: Offensive Magic and Fight
Personaly I am working on fighting a bit and I am a magic user. You can use fight to keep getting HP and HP regen without useing other skill points from other areas. I want to buy spells with my magic points not HP heh. I plan on keeping HP and HP regen maxed and maybe buying increased damage skills. Not bothering with anything else so far, not sure what will open up. I try and get at least one or two smacks in every battle so I can lvl fight without going out and fighting only. Altho putting on some heavy armor and a huge 2H mace would be a nice change of pace every once in a while =)chuangpo wrote:HI all. Yeah, I initially wanted to to that as well, figured it wouldn't hurt to have some back up combat skills. There is bound to be some magic resistant guys out there eventually, there always is

Nod. Not to mention there are no penalties to having magic and melee abilities. The only thing to remember is to wear light armor when playing caster and equip the tank suit when playing fighter.chuangpo wrote:Yeah, I initially wanted to to that as well, figured it wouldn't hurt to have some back up combat skills. Raising multiple skill paths increases versatility, not power, which is reason the advancement system in SoR is so unique.

*nods more* Yes, and whats great is light armor (for casting) doesnt take up much inventory so you can bring both suits with you. I for one is all about fighting, However I do have 1 magic, so I can make Sap Crystals, for my Enchanted Pike. Woot

Agreed. I just wish the Zorai light armor didn't look like a damn leotard, I feel like Peter Pan Can I wear armor from other races?

Yes, many mages actually go with the caster pants (Lin-ko pants for the Zoraï).chuangpo wrote:Agreed. I just wish the Zorai light armor didn't look like a damn leotard, I feel like Peter Pan Can I wear armor from other races?
Edited in light of DT's post below.

Duly noted, thanks!
Re: Offensive Magic and Fight
I dont know about most... it's a looks preference only as caster pants have no additional value or properties... it's pants vs robe is all.gralen wrote:Yes, most people actually go with the caster pants (Lin-ko pants for the Zoraï).
