no english version... no use for one since the university is french... there is no electronic copy of the thesis, it was not published in magazines. I know you can get all Thesis (in printed copy) at the departement.

aelvana wrote:Just a teensie correction here -- the Suckling Yubos ended up with around 200hp due to a bug. This had nothing to do with the revamped combat system. The corrected Yubos are still under the new combat system, but have their HP bug fixed, and as such are killable by newbies :)
Just a correction.

Aelvana has no idea what was done with the Yubos at all and if it was a bug or not or merely the unintended side effects of Patch 1.

This is just... I dunno, MMO fan spin?

Kinda wierd if you ask me, to be so attached to a game you start spinning their goof-ups for them o.O

And I might suggest if you want to read some frelling infernos, try the Star Wars Galaxies posts. Ryzom posters are downright civil in comparison. Of course, SWG has about 16 months of bugs, bad patches, fixes of bad patches, fixes of fixes, nerfs, nerfs of nerfs, postponed promised fixes, delays in promises to fulfill postponed promises, and so on to fan the flames. Something to look forward to, I guess. My 16 y/o son, who is more knowlegable of MMORPGs than I, tells me all the games are like this and all forums are full of this kind of flaming nonsense. I personally am impressed by the rapidity of the efforts of the Ryzom devs in damage control, but that's another topic.
Tolerance is a virtue, but ventilation is a basic tool of coping. There appears to be a great need for coping tools along through now.

Until Ryzom, SWG was the shortest MMO I'd ever played. I got into the second month before I got bored with the repetitive grind. To give some sort of perspective... I played EverQuest for years. Any game that can make me feel like its >too much grind< has some serious issues.

from:http://www.ryzom.com/forum/showthread.php?t=5386 (Client Patch, Nov 5th)

. Adjustments to the combat skills of certain mobs in some refugee lands

I had talked to GM's about it prior to the 11/5 patch and they said it was being looked into and being adressed.

So before calling someone a liar, do a little research please. Nothing worse than flaming someone (especially someone who is one of the nicest people I've known in game and on the forums).

(P.S. prior to this patch every refugee land (aka newbland) except matis, had the lowest hp of the mobs at 210. This was even evident on the mainland (suckling yubos/messabs would take 210 damage from a nuke (remember folks, direct damage/heals only list how much damage was done up til death/full health), now they are taking 40(yubo) and 62(messab) of the suckling variety).

I never called anyone a liar. I merely stated that there is no way of telling if the Great Yubo Rebellion of '04 was merely a bug or an unintended consquence of the patch.

Clearly they weren't murdering people before the patch... and the only thing we have referencing it from the developers is a patch note mentioning a "tuning of some mobs in refugee lands".

Could it be that they tuned them because the patch inadvertently made them too hard?

o.O

Who knows? I don't know. You don't know. Aelvana doesn't know.

Now Aelvana is free to interpret the Great Yubo Rebellion of '04 as being merely an isolated bug, and I am free to interpret it as a gross oversight by the devs due to a poorly thought out patch.

Frankly, neither one of knows for *sure* whats right.

My personal belief is she's putting a happy-face sticker on the situtation instead of acknowleging that perhaps (just maybe) the developers do not know as much about their own game as thier players do.

I mean, it wouldn't be the first time in MMO history that some Dev came up with what (s)he thought was a great idea that turned out bad. Players of SWG can attest to this first hand :P

Let's review the facts...

In Tyker, Zorat, and Fyros refugee lands (as well as on the mainland), suckling yubo's had 210hp(approximately, if they were in line with their mainland counterparts, than 210hp would be accurate, I had tested each mainland out with Zzei, hitting them with my hardest nuke doing 210 damage(normally 365), then tested them in the refugee lands using a 3 fighter pack for sword+dagger+improved damage+accurate attack).

In Matis refugee lands (as well as on the mainland), suckling yubos would die in 40 damage.

Does this sound like a bug or an unforseen impact of the patch? If it was across the board, where every civilization had this happen to them. Then yes it could (and would) be considered an unforseen impact of the patch. But since it wasn't, that tends to lean itself more towards being a bug.

Maybe they will make up my subscription with a donation to Nevrax. Maybe not.

You have already stated your intentions of doing the exact same thing you accused others for. Welcome to the wonderful world of hypocrisy. Just because someone has a 'happy-face sticker' on a situation where the dev's acted QUICKLY in response to, does not give reason to say they have no idea about a situation. If something is 'fixed' or 'retuned' or 'adjusted', it means that something was wrong.

So you can continue to believe what you will. You are entitled to it. Just like everyone else is. But don't delude yourself into thinking you know everything and your opinions are law. Because, from most of your posts, you have been coming off as very arrogant towards many people who try to post something good in these forums. Some are fan-boi trolls, some aren't. So watch where you point that nozzle there Nero.

In the spirit of accurate flaming, I just wanted to point out that when you and others write 'whinner' instead of 'whiner', it's actualy closer to winner and so you might unintentionally be complimenting someone you mean to flame :)

Examples:

'I whinnered the lottery.'
'You are such a whiner! Be gone!' <-- main interest is here
'I tried to winner heart by wearing clean drawers.'

etc.
