please, how do i fix this?
full screen mode wont take!?
Re: full screen mode wont take!?
My problem was similiar. Try locking to either D3D or OpenGL in the game config.

Re: full screen mode wont take!?
Avoid using "Auto" in the setup if you can avoid it, determine which setting is more asthetically pleasing and fast for you and use that one. Also, once you are in the game, try deselecting then reselecting FS mode... I know that once I did that awhile back it stayed in that mode. The game will still load in a window, but after you select your character and hit "Play" it goes FS and stays there...overide1 wrote:i have tried doing fullscreen mode and doing windowed with different resolutions but it never takes. i have signed up and signed in and even when i am in the game it is still in the default windowed mode!

Hopefully that helps... It did for me...

Re: full screen mode wont take!?
hit 'u', that opens the in-game configuration options. You can tweak things like whether or not your in game windows fade, character fading on mouse over, Chat font size, chat color, vegetation density, enable/disable shadows, render distance for player characters, render distance for micro vegetation, render distance for monsters, and the list goes on....
Re: full screen mode wont take!?
I see people have problems similar to mine, but since none seem exactly like it, I'll go ahead and describe it in detail:
I run in 1600x1200. When the game starts it switches the screen to that resolution, but draws the game screen at 1280x1024 so that you can still see the task bar and part of my desktop (but it is not accessable - you can't click on anything). If I switch it to windowed mode from there, it expands the Rysom window, but puts it into windowed mode (task bar still visible and now works). If I switch it to another resolution, it works properly. Currnently I'm switching resolutions and then switching it back to get the screen to behave, but unfortunately, the small initial size of the screen causes all my game windows to get moved ontop of each other. Very annoying.
Anywy, I"ll try messing with some of the settings mentioned here to see if that fixes the problem.

Re: full screen mode wont take!?
That's the problem I was having. In the Ryzom config program, don't use auto. Select either OpenGL or Direct3D manually, as was suggested earlier. That seems to have made the difference.jackdaw wrote:I run in 1600x1200. Re: full screen mode wont take!?
I was having the same problem. The game was working fine with the default settings. Then I tweeked the graphics settings to give me a wider FoV. Afterward, I was also seeing the tool bar when I loaded the game. I went back into the graphics settings, changed the resolution, then changed it back to what I wanted. Now I don't see the tool baroveride1 wrote:ok, opengl got it but my windows tool bar still shows? i will try the other mode tonight to see how it works. plus how do you change the video settings like FS in the game?
Of course, now I can't move my chat window, but that's tolerable...to some extent.

Well I don't know what they did but just for the heck of it I tried running it in D3D again and low and behold I can play and no more screen shrinkage or resetting boxes. Yay! So anyway whatever they did I am glad they did it.gddss wrote:I have the same problem as Jack and I do have my config set to OpenGL (can't play in D3D computer freezes) but my window still shrinks when I go into the game an I have tried clicking the FS mode on and off and still doesn't fix it.

right click on the taskbar
choose properties
uncheck the "keep taskbar on top of applications"
click ok
start the game maximized, the middle of the three buttons in the top right hand corner.
change it when you leave the game by reversing the process
