Im at lvl 25 defensive magic and lvl 48 offensive magic. I was abble to fear all mobs with fear 1 before the patch. I do think this is not realistic, so I agree that you should have to lvl fear to be able to fear mobs your lvl.
However i now have fear 2, just after the patch 1 it was working on mobs around lvl 50 but since patch 20 it doesnt work anymore.
I do think only fear of ql 50 should work on lvl 50 mobs. The problem is that i cannot lvl my defensive magic using fear anymore. The only way for me to lvl my defensive magic is to use the fear-nuke-fear-nuke technique. My offensive magic is at 48, so if I use fear 2 on lvl 50 mobs it doesnt work (and i get killed) and if i use the technique on lvl 30 (i'm able to fear them) I only get around 50 exp since my offensive magic is higher.
I think ive got a solution, I tryed it and it doesnt work but it could be a fix :
If I use Fear 2 (ql 30) and any nuke lvl 3 (ql 30) on a lvl 30 mob, I should be able to get better exp (at least in deffensive magic) so i can lvl my deffensive magic.

Nope, it's not the power of the spell or action used that counts but the lvl of the SKILL used that counts so your techinique won't change your XP gain.trosky wrote:I think ive got a solution, I tryed it and it doesnt work but it could be a fix :

He's asking for it to be changed to work that way.

Yeah its hard to read into that from his post, you have to catch the part where he says "and it didn't work" and then infer a little...zunaah wrote:He's asking for it to be changed to work that way.
But um...
They should just revert to old resistance rules anyway. They went way too overboard in response to blind abuse. Now both affliction lines are practically worthless in a team your own level. Watching 3 mobs go down to your team, filled with people *lower* than you and not getting any XP is not alot of fun. But its either "spam totally resisted affliction" or resort to healing for any magic XP.
Maybe Im stubborn... but I don't like it when games force my offensive mage to become a defensive healer. Dunno why... but it sorta rubs me the wrong way.
Re: Constructive post about magic since the patch 1...
Just do a bit of specializing... If you want to raise defence, play a healer for a few days. Its not too hard to get a group playing a healer. Once your heal is high enough, then jump back to fear/nuking.

The resistance levels are too high for even spells that are supposed to work on the mobs. For instance a level 1 spell supposed to work on up to level 15. I can use one on a sucking level 8 mob and it will resist 4-5 times and not work as intended other times. The spells should at least work on the mobs they are intended to work on.
