Come in, pull up a chair, let's discuss all things Ryzom-related.

A poll of American school leavers a couple of years ago discovered that a majority couldn't identify their own _CONTINENT_ on a map.

They assumed it was Eurasia because it was the biggest one.

Otherwise, yes, Europe does have much stricter laws on amount of hours worked etc, France especially.

I live in italy, I know PERFECTLY working regulamentations of europe we have the same working restrictions of france. ALSO I worked for three months in france two years ago I know what it is like.

This is an extremely absurd statement and just goes to show most people what little knowledge there actually is in Europe about Americans in general.

If anyone can be bothered enough to do a quick run or two through google the closest you can come to verifying this idiots assertion is a survey from the national geographic society that asked various geographic questions from various countries. As for the amount of people broken down by nationality that could correctly identify the united states on a map, they were:

Mexico: 96%
Canada: 95%
France: 95%
Sweden: 93%
Japan: 91%
US: 89%
Germany: 88%
Italy: 88%
Great Britain:79%

Looking at that chart, I suppose someone like the poster would infer that Mexico either has the greatest educational system in the known world, or the largest concentration of geographically minded citizens. However, if you take into account the sample size of the survey you realize that there is a standard deviation of +/- 4 points which means that with the exception of Great Britain every country was able to identify the United States with relatively the same level of success.

That all being said, I doubt the poster could locate his posterior if it wasn't located so close to his neck.

Yes, his neck.

Oh also as an aside, more Americans were able to correctly identify places such as Mexico and the Pacific Ocean than people from countries other than ... you guessed it, the Americas - by a margin of almost 2 to 1 depending on the question.

Also more people from Mexico can find Japan than people from Japan can find Mexico.

Great stuff.

Or not.

No, not really, but I suppose there are plenty of them out there. I just love shooting holes in obviously false misconceptions about Americans. As a former Yank living abroad you would be surprised how much utter total crap you run into trying to get a drink at a pub.

Yes people, Americans are quite obviously idiots. Please don't let things like all the money and resources we control dissuade you from this simple truth. It's obviously just a big collasal botch-up and will be sorted out fairly soon.

Who do you think you are??
50% of americans think Paris is a country and you can say how we work??
French Devs and French GM are online on the Klient for the w-e, they work...

Sorry for my bad english but can you speak french?
80% of statistics are made up on the spot :D

Anyway I agree to some extent. We honestly have no clue what's going on over there. Perhaps that's why we're so restless. We love this game and we want to see it do well, but as of now we're waiting to see the developers' next move.

Quoi qu'il en soit je conviens dans une certaine mesure. Nous n'avons honnêtement aucun indice what's continuer 2la-bas. Peut-être that's pourquoi we're si agité. Nous aimons ce jeu et nous voulons voir qu'il bien, mais en date de maintenant we're attendant pour voir le developers' ; prochain mouvement.

Oui. Mais je suis canadien

This boards contain numerous insults to each other, towards europeans, and specifically towards the french. Numerous. Comments implying that others are slovenly, stupid, or have small genitals are simply not needed.

How about we treat each other with the respect we expect in return? A little bit of live and let live goes a long ways.

when did the forum become a place to discuss average national intelligence ?
Its really annoying to run into racial streotypers. Read some american literature people, you will see all the great minds that country sprouted out.
And keep in mind that every country has its share of stupid populace.
Am i supposed to write something witty here ?

Btw, just to be a complete arse:

Map of Paris, TX:

http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp?co ... s&state=TX

You will see it is strategically located to such charmingly named locals such as Ragtown and Slabtown. Also it is suspiciously close to both Detroit and Reno.... much closer than one would think.
