congratulations homins
harvesting just turned more difficult than ever.
after making both ground preservation and stability almost indispensable the chance of getting even one material out of the ground without destroying the source prematurely or dying from explosion or toxins has become even slimmer for newbie harvesters.
I for one doubt that many new players will join if the chance of making a fun character turns so difficult.
Lets face it, if new players stay away the game will die and faster than you think.
please comment on my rant.
Amratha, dissapointed homin

Re: harvesting
Well firstly this doesn't look like you are trying to "unfold the mystery that is Ryzom" but despite that, without people like you whining, the newbs wouldn't know that it is "hard"; they would think it has been this way all along and so will, unlike you apparently, get on with it and work their hardest to master the game. Thats if they're the type of player that we would like (determined); but if they are a person like you, they will whine and moan about the "good old days" and not realise that everyone is in the same boat, and get on with it.
Re: harvesting
I agree with sprite. All this pessimism is spoiling the fun. By all means; give feedback, but please show a little faith. Nevrax knows what they are doing. This is not the end of the world, its the very beginning.
Just try to chill and enjoy the game. =)

Re: harvesting
Also, I do not really comprehend what is so wrong with making harvesting more difficult. Previously one got bored to death with it. Now at least you have something to *do* while harvesting.
The SP costs for care plans could be reduced a little, though, will be difficult for new foragers to get enough SP for the focus, the extraction AND the care plan upgrades.

well you touched the point i wanted in the first place. i.e. the skill cost
you may call me a whiner to your hearts content it won't change my opinion that the cost of skills are too high when you have to get all three types to get even one mat without getting wasted or ruining the deposit in first try
and yes i have tried it in OB where the harvesting was WAY too easy, i agree on that.
perhaps a smaller price for the first steps like 1 and 2 and then increase the price for later levels so ppl will get a chance of starting but will have to choose later on
Another item would be perhaps an Official guide to harvesting and not just the various 'hidden' guides that are on the different forums and no newbie are aware of before some helpful soul takes pity on the poor sod and tells where to look.
mind you i'm NOT going to write one as i'm not sufficiently into how to harvest yet. after all i'm only level 63
Re: harvesting
Making harvesting harder does not make any sense at all . We need people to do the boring job of pulling mats . Why spend hours pulling a few mats when you can be out fighting or casting and having real fun ? . Better still lets just put all the mats on vendors and buy them that way Dappers will have a use .
I hope all crafters only except pulled mats from now on when people want armour or weapons that way everyone will be forced to harvest .
Put Harvest back as it was and keep the rest as it is at patch 1 then we will have a decent game n our hands .

Consider yourself reported for racism. Next time consider giving some balanced objection to what someone says, instead of baselessly insulting them.

Re: harvesting
In my opinion, although i'm still newbie in a game (forager lev 56) harvesting after patch 1 became really exciting and by all means requirements rise up - you have to be truly patient and focused on gameplay instead of clicking your extraction action button and going away from computer (careful action at source is a key to succes). As an example - i use to get no more to 2 pieces of any mats and now i easily get 4-5 pcs So my advice is - first try to think of choosing your profession instead of complaining at forum and main game chat- life at Atys became hard a little bit but no less exciting and fantastic.
Wish you all to find again the pleasure in exploring Atys!!
