Oh, and crafting is fine -- NPC vendors now sell q50, q100, q150, q200, and q250. Check all the cities of your race for different qualities.

Even though massive amounts of harvested mats won't be needed like we thought they would, they're still fixing it.

Why don't you guys think of this as an actual challenging game now, and not the cheese-fest we feel sorry for ourselves over cause we don't have it anymore.
I don't think players want a cheese-fest. That's not any fun either. but I would like a fighting chance. this is the gripe, we are over matched now

Not sure what I will do...best guess is to give it another month or so and see how it develops.

The game has some potential but the entire affliction system seems broke beyond repair. Why would I ever pick sleep, root, madness, slow movement, slow attack rate? The combat system is not developed much at all. I see this as a big problem ... in the long run the 'make sure you pull a single, get the one affliction on it, and smack it' gameplay will wear out fast.

This patch was the first step to addressing that core problem and it is difficult to figure out what the devs were thinking.

Will I switch to WOW? I am VERY concerned about the community in WOW and that will keep me away from it. EQ2 - probably will try but community is a concern there too.

I hope the devs respond to issues fast, but also improve the communications. The patch notes were horrible and SOME thought of what the devs were trying to accomplish would have been nice. We pop in and have a ton of skill points - some concept that things have changed - but NO idea on how to spend them or figure out our chracters.

HEY! I was paying for and enjoying the tasty cheese-flavoured version of Ryzom. Guess I think 'challenging' tastes like tough, leathery steak that's more trouble to chew than it's worth. Or maybe it's fibre-rich bran that's good for me.

Challenging is my RL job - I want enjoyable when I play a game.

When I come home from a hard days work, I like to sit down and enjoy a game. Most of the time that entails solo'ing, as thats what I love most.

Now its impossible, and I'm not just saying that. Sigh...

Cancelling my account, but I will browse the forums and log in occassionaly to see if they actually decide to remedy the situation.

And buy with what money exactly ?

Because there still is nothing to do that would make it fun. Now its like an old donkey kong game. Stage 2. Same crap just harder.

Precisely the way I feel. I play these games because I enjoy progress. My job features very little forward momentum of any sort, so the little achievable goals in MMOs (new levels, new skills, new equipment, etc) give me a great deal of satisfaction. I'm not looking to prove my worth against overwhelming odds, I'm just looking to make some measurable progress that comes served in an enjoyable package. If this is no longer a game where I can do that, I won't hold any hard feelings against the developers or the players who enjoy the current incarnation- I'll just take my money to a game that better fulfills my desires.

Really, it all comes down to buying a product. Most of us who've played MMOs for any length of time begin games with a general idea of what we do and do not like. I've been following this game for approximately a year now, and I liked enough of what I've seen (though not all) to be happy paying for the service. Until patch 1. The product I was paying for and enjoying changed to something other than what I find enjoyable. From my experience with MMOs, I've realized that it's better to start looking for something that will satisfy me rather than spend money on something that doesn't in hopes that it will change.

Some people like oranges, some people don't. If you're a person who dislikes oranges and you pay for an apple only to get home and realize the clerk has switched it for an orange, you're not going to start liking oranges simply because you've paid for it. This is not so very different. The game I originally paid for was a game that I liked. It has since become something that I don't enjoy, so the rational thing to do is to go spend my money on a product that I will enjoy. Until that product comes along, I'll catch up on my reading. What I won't do is tell myself that the developers, in their infinite wisdom, know what I want better than I do, nor will I tell myself that I owe them time because they're just getting started. I owe them nothing. Despite that, I've already given them my attention, I've given them my time, and I've given them my money. Now I'm taking them back.

The greatest power any consumer has is the power to walk away from the sale.

The only thing that was cheesy about combat before this patch was that blind basically was way too overpowered. If you fought without it, the game was significantly harder. It was a combination of making the enemies not attack and ALSO making their defense drop down to 0. Trust me, on alot of those really big mobs if you could not drop their defense down to 0 you would never defeat them before everyone ran out of sap/stamina.

Whoever decided to increase the monster difficulty across the board was a complete idiot. End of story. That person needs to be taken away and pelted with stale crossaints until he cries.

Also, yes, the affliction system is *completely broken* the fact that you cannot establish more than one link at a time is bizzare, especially when:

a) the game manual says you can
b) there is an interface for showing all the links you have established

There is no such thing as "Crowd control" in Ryzom, its "single mob control". And its boring. And stupid. And gets old REALLY fast.

They need to either make the link system work like its supposed to, or they need to switch a duration system for spell effects. The way it stands right now is completely retarded and obviously a hack.

I understand that every MMORPG has its caste of devoted dev-fellaters, its a given fact. But please, anyone who can attempt to argue that the game is "balanced" right now needs to get their head examined. It's so grossly unbalanced (in the other direction!) that its painfully obvious to atleast 90% of the player base.

Honestly, do the cheerleaders in these threads sincerely think that they are so much smarter and more refined than the vast majority of the people who are complaining about this patch? What level of arrogance do you need to assume that the rest of us are just crybabies? 100? 150? 250?

Well, to sum it up... I am totally displeased with this patch only for the reason that is it soooo hard to solo, one death and you bottom feed for an HOUR to rid DP. You cannot forage off DP, hard to explore, too many hidden Ragus and Gingos with ridiculous AI now. Grouping, sure...if you can find players, but the player base is waning faster than I just died....

Just plain not fun.

I Like fun....

I Pay for fun...

I took the money out of the account that Ryzom will try to debit to actually pay for this. I too will watch forums for some hope of saving what would have been a great game.

Just cancelled both my accounts and gone back to playing Horizons for now. Will probably try WoW when it comes out, but for now I'm done with Ryzom.

Take care all :)
