Well, it's the opposite. They're addicted, and when you're addicted you don't like it when whatever it is you take no longer gives you that fix.

When you're not addicted, you take it easy for a couple of days, wait and see what the next patches will bring.

You guys should look at the European-English board for their reaction to the patch. Some of the things they post are really hilarious (just got done reading a 4 page thread).

I like the new patch w/ magic, but now it is impossible to travel from town to town w/o dieing or at least using Self Heal. Just from a gingo I get hits of 100-150, and can barely dodge attacks now, before I dodged most of the attacks.

Heh, you've got that completely backwards.

When you're addicted, you can justify anything to continue your addiction. When you're not addicted, you can step back and ask yourself "Am I having fun with this game?" and get a [more] honest answer.

If someone can say "I think it's more fun [or equally as fun] for it to take 4-5 times as long to harvest enough materials to create a suit of armor now than it did yesterday", I think you'll find other blatant signs of addiction.

I was actually enjoying the game quite well before the patch. I really, sincerely believed that the people posting about their experiences on ATS were all powergamers, or were exaggerating (sorry folks). I've come to find out, personally, that they were not. Assurances that "future patches" will fix the problems introduced aren't very reassuring unless they involve undoing this patch entirely first.. :)

Ultimately, I just got billed, so I have many days to go until I actually care to make a final decision. But the attitude of "wait until the next patch, then it'll be better" won't fly with me -- I've played too many MMOGs to believe it. ;)

You prove my point without knowing it. Of course, when you're addicted, you have to get your fix at any cost. When whatever you're taking it isn't good enough anymore, ie, you don't get your kicks on Ryzom anymore, you start to take something else, ie, WoW.

Coming from the Lineage II community, I have put up with a lot. I played Lineage since closed beta. I only quit because of the people, not the content. Now to the real point, this patch sucks. I can't solo mobs that I could before, I can't group because the mobs still get too great of an advantage, so we all end up dying and hunting lower level mobs gives no exp. I can't harvest because when I was reapplying all my skill points, I never saw aggressive or gentle extration upgrades, so now I can only harvest lvl 10 mat for 250 pts each (provided that the source doesn't explode or exhaust in a matter of seconds). Now that I can't harvest for myself I can no longer provide myself mats to craft anything.

Nevrax, just take the servers down, and roll us back till you can apply something more suitable for this playerbase.

/me eyes up Lineage II again...lvl 35 Wizard sure looks good right about now...

i grouped with 2 of my guild mates and the hardest thing we could take without dying was a creeping frahar , it netted us 63xp.... we tried a fearsome ocyx, we managed to kill it, but we lost 1 person both times, even with that one death (xp getting divided by 2 people) we only got 1200xp because of our lvls, to me thats completely rediculous, just about every monster over 150 is doing more damage then we have hitpoints... how can something like this get passed the brainstorming phase and everyone keeps thier job?

I've been playing online games since their conception.. back in the days of BBS games and MUDs. I've beta'd or played every game that's out and available in the states. This game has had it's FIRST major patch. And yes, there are mistakes and problems, but there are good things too.

I don't understand people who want to quit after one patch, especially when the company has, on the DAY of the patch, already posted they are working on fixes. These developers ARE listening to their player base, but they are also trying to make a balance, and that takes time. This is a player run economy and there's always a time it takes to balance it as more and more people join the game.

I don't like the lag. I don't like the change in harvesting. I don't like the increased prices either. I can't raise my crafting because I can't harvest enough of what I need to offset the cost of what I need to buy to craft. SO WHAT! Go fight. Maybe you can't solo anymore. Go get in a group. There are other ways to play folks. ALL MMORPG's go through a lengthy time of adjustment after they come out.

Perhaps the players are leaving are the ones we don't want in the first place. The ones that stick around and see things through are the ones that get to help make the game what we want. Even EQ, the "largest MMORPG" still doesn't have things right. There's still pathing bugs that were thing in beta. There's problems with bard songs that were there in beta. It's been over FIVE YEARS, and they haven't gotten it right.

This game is on the ground floor, and there isn't anything else quite like it on the market today. Yes, it needs improvement, and those improvements are coming. Be patient, and give it time. Leaving the game isn't a solution. Constructive criticism, well thought out ideas and the player base worked with the developers is the solution. These guys seem to want to listen, so instead of whining and threatening to leave (which never works btw), why not get constructive about it.

That's your opinion. In my opinion, YOU are the type of person causing the problem. You accept whatever shoddy thing comes along hoping it will get better. What impetus do the devs have to make things better when you are willing to pay for the lowest possible quality of product? You are basically signing up for an empty world, and you are happy about it! That to me doesn't make much sense.

So you've played some MMOs. Me, too. Good for us but irrelevant really. These things were more acceptable when the genre was new and the wheel had to be invented. That's not reality for an MMO company anymore, as evidenced by the angry posts in these forums and the forums of other games with similar problems.

I've cancelled mine too. I used to enjoy the game - I've played through beta so I'm not just rushing out - I've waited a while for things to be fixed and that hasn't happened. It's gotten worse. I used to enjoy being able to solo while chatting to friends. I can't do that here anymore without dying constantly so I'll find another game in which I can do that. It's my money and I choose to spend it on products that work to my liking. This isn't to my liking so I'll spend my money elsewhere.
