Come in, pull up a chair, let's discuss all things Ryzom-related.

As a harvester I can't say this change bothers me in the least. Nobody in their right mind buys gear made from basic vendor mats except jewelery, it's grind materials nothing more. If it saves me from a little digging of basic/fine junk mats for leveling purposes great, everyone will still want choice/excellent/supreme for their real gear. :)

in all honesty, who even has such an unlimited amount of dappers so as to spend 7k per Q250 mats or 6k for Q200 mats?? It would take hundreds of millions of dappers to grind crafting on Q200 vendor mats. Its just not practical at all. I dont see this as a big issue right now. These mats are there mainly for the end game when everyone has a billion dappers and want to gring their armour crafting from 200 to 250. At this stage in the game, nobody has the money to buy thousands of Q200 or higher mats at 7k per mat. Period.

Some guilds have a lot of dapper saved up and can choose to powerlevel a couple crafters like that if they choose to.

I find it amusing that everyone considers foragers to level too fast for everyone's good (whatever that is)... but now Crafters have a leveling ability limited only by dapper. It doesn't depend on player economy (supply and demand).

The original vision of Ryzom was a player driven economy. Enough mats for the crafters to level at a pace alongside all the others. Not the massive crafter leveling we saw in beta with basic mats. Seems like Nevrax has abandoned the vision with patch 1 that made Ryzom the game most of us wanted to play.

Partially true but you also have to figure in the fame discounts. The higher your fame the lower the price. With 100 fame the highest level mats are about half the price you're quoting for me to buy.

Giving crafting a reasonable leveling path as they have only benefits everyone but you can seem my thoughts on that above.

how about they just eliminate basic/fine mats from being foraged/hunted then?

I hope this isn't true, but that is what it is being made to sound like.
It does seem so, if our Basic and Fine mats are now obsolete then why even put basic and fine mat sources in the game?

Because you get them for free. And can use them for crafting or sell them cheaper than the shop bought ones.

I think you people fail to realize just how expensive these high quality NPC mats are. Do some math and you'll realize you will need hundreds of millions most likley.

Tie that in with the fact that they nerfed mission payouts and harvesting has been slowed down which were the two largest sources of income.

It's really pretty well balanced. Now instead of a guild having to forage all day to support their crafters, they can just attempt to earn money for them. They can still do the former, but it at least gives those who dont want to forage a way to help out crafters at the same time.

In addition it helps out the economy because merchants want to sell now, because they need money. Before hand, when money couldnt buy you much past 100 skill, why sell that nice q150 sword to anyone? What do you need the money for?

Now you really do need that money, all the way up to 250 skill. Thus crafters will be selling more now outside guilds simply because they need money to put right back into their skill.

So basically its just a system to compliment foraging, not replace it.
