can anyone tell me the rules on what rate of leveling is allowed?

not only that, but most foragers really can't leave their content to level most of their other foraging trees. So is someone with a single skill tree to 250, more power leveled than someone with 150 in 3 skill trees? People keep telling me that "prime root foraging is high level content". So which is it?

Sure foraging is still too fast in leveling, but did you ever realize there is more to skills let alone the game than leveling? Yes foraging need slowing down, but it didn't need nerfing into oblivion when it already didn't perform its role well enough.

Its not too fast in leveling. Because you can forage higher sources you get more xp than I do on a new tree. I suffer more than you do because now it will take me 10x as long to reach 250 than you did.

Another good point to bring up.

Those who power leveled forage are now rewarded, especially as others drop the game. There aren't going to be nearly as many people supplying crafters now.

I will be in the prime roots foraging (because I still can) leveling up that skill rapidly. Anyone I choose to supply will have a major advantage over any other forager who didn't power level. I'll also be able to charge whatever price the crafters can pay, because I don't think we'll see the same supply of quality quartered mats coming in any more either.

Personally I should probably be thankful, but I'd rather see a better game and I don't like all the low level foragers in my guild getting hammered.

I really can't see how any of this is a solution to what I admit was a problem with harvesting, the XP was way too fast.

I'm at the point now where I have minimal interest in XP aside from paying off the ungodly large death penalties I get as a result of raising Jungle Forage to the 160s. With the effort I put in before the patch, I managed to raise Desert and Prime Roots forage over level 100 as well, plus pick up a couple levels of Forest Forage, frankly i'm drowning in skill points.

With the couple thousand skill points I spent today, it was extremely difficult to dig up even two level 120+ mats with any consistancy and without sizable downtime. (not due to the focus drain but due to the rapid fire explosions/gas clouds) I don't care one bit about XP, I just want to try and supply my crafter partner, and where I was woefully inadequate at the task before cranking out 400-500 mats a night (by night I mean often 6+ hours), i'm even worse now. As it stands i'm better off just going to duo kipees than harvest.

I am very concerned about new harvesters post patch. I'm lucky enough to have access to all the bells and whistles, care plans, terrain/mat specs, etc while someone new to the game will have to barrel ahead with virtually none of these due to the upgrades to their core extraction brick every five levels? Anyone trapped to a single land (which many are with the difficulty navigating the roots and surrounding areas, I know i've maxed my DP several times now trying to get to Matis *grin*) is going to have a nightmarish time trying to keep ahead of the curve. It's not even that these people will have a tougher time leveling, they'll have a tougher time gaining XP at all with the machine-gun style explosions (no the explosion bar heal is not a viable solution when two strikes can burn an entire explosion bar using gentle extraction/gentle rate/gentle speed) and lack of danger reducing skills.

ok now that I got that little vent-fest off my chest i'm going to do my best to shut up about the whole thing. :D Harvesting is obviously broken and i'm confident there will be fixes put in place. There are ALWAYS huge bugs with a major MMORPG patch. Nobody is falling thru the earth, and while i'm disappointed with the inventory/packer mule bugs, the crafting bug with magic amps, the ridiculous looking gloves (i'm wearing zorai chickens strapped to my hands), the harvest changes, etc. it does seem they hit a home run with the melee/magic combat changes. I'm sure the game will adjust and the broken things will be fixed. :)

Good luck Nevrax, i'll do my best to keep my whining to a minimum. :)
