Soloer's $crewed???

Post by loyats »

Just a question. some of us prefer to solo on occasion, some more often than others, some of us don't even belong to a guild yet, and due to past experience don't wish to. Do you think the supposed, mob damage raise hp drop will ruin or enhance the solo experience?

I think it is a good thing ... fights will be faster. Soloing you normally are not fighting things way above your level so it should be ok. If anything I think this will help all fighting styles. Faster kills means faster leveling .. but higher damage also means downtime .. so we will need to see how it plays out ... the focus of what exactly gives the best xp/loot/.. over time will shift from what it is on live rightnow to something else.

I think pulling mobs that can provide Q 100 levels above yours is dumb. Coupled with the decay rate killing creatures your level is more cost effective, thanks to 4x the pulls for 1k less + 4x mats that are only half level.
With slower pulls, the mats you get mats that are usually WAY higher than your craft. Why not settle for something 10 levels higher than what you can craft. If my craft level is 50, crafting 45/50 armor killing hard kipee and sprightly mektoubs will let my craft level faster because I can gain more mats, than killing Awsome kipee...Aren't mighty kipee about level 120? (sorry I'm at work), basic mats? Won't I get the same result if I craft Q50 armor from Q70ish mean kipee mats? I might even get better 45Q armor from hard kipee mats that are of fine quality yes?

Solo I'm rarely pulling Q my level. In fact, I'm hard pressed to find Q60 mobs...but I need a vest and helmet right now anyways.

As a soloer, perhaps you can purchase higher grade EQ that will let you kill things for a time at a higher level. Then, revert to lower armor and kill things your level to save up for higher armor, coupled with what you harvested or quartered.

I think having the economy soley based on equipment is proving to hard to balance...that's right, our economy is to simple I think. The new stores should help though.

Wouldn't be half as hard if they actually tried balancing crafters/foragers.

Don't say its hard until its tried. We've seen plenty of fight/magic intensive patches in the last year. Beta never tried and this knee-jerk reaction patch certainly isn't what I'd call a good attempt to "balance". More like a good attempt to nerf until the day they get around to it.

But will the dedicated forager base wait that long?

I believe by raising the amount of damage done by mobs the game developers are killing two birds with one stone.

First fights will be faster one way or the other...and this is a good thing...think of how many times youve been standing out in the opening trying to finish off a mob and it took 2-2.5 minutes to do, in the meantime other mobs either respawn or move in around you. Next thing you know your being attacked by multiple mobs.

Secondly all the players who are complaining about getting to higher levels and their gear decaying at amazing rates...will no longer beable to take those creatures they are fighting now which are causing the decay rate problem.

As far as soloing is concerned...by raising the hp and the damage of the lower level mobs...small creatures will become more viable an option for a soloers to hunt. Right now the low creatures are too easy but if you move up just a notch the creatures become too powerful too quickly. This move to higher dmg lower hp should fill that gap and soloers should beable to find a mob that is just right for their level.

Doubtful, and without them there wont be anyone making armor and weapons to deal with the invastions.

Yes the solo life will be over, at least in the later levels, if you can get there.

Having read the new patch message, I think you will still see people able to take on some of the higher level mobs. The stun spell has been fixed so some of the things you could do with blind alone may be replaced by two people one casting blind while other casting stun.

From the patch msg, it appears that decay was more based on your actions than the mob. There is no details so decay may not work like you expected.

Where does it say that mob's hp were lowered?
If anything I think they were raised along with their dmg. That would mean fights would last longer, not shorter.

At least some mobs on the ATS have had their HPs reduced. Gingos being the prime example (they have quite a bit fewer HPs). I'm not sure if this was done to every mob or to just a few out-of-wack mobs. *shrug*

This Sucks!!! Ive already racked up 60 k in debt soloing in 10 mins. You can forget trying to solo its pointless now. Gingos hit for 170-200 And if youa rgo more than one consider yourself dead. I didnt even geta chance to swing and vig tore me to peicies. I feel bad for low lv peeps less than 50 or less. They really screwed this game up. Dont think ill be playing to much longer.
This patch really upsets me = (. Ive been playing this game since closed beta. This game just hit its lowest of lows. The devs have gone a little to far.
I hope they quickly reconsider what they have done. I hear alot of talk of people about to cancel.
