I'm not that rich either. But grinding jewel crafting and sometimes selling pieces to players at ridiculously low mark-ups just for publicity does get me a fair bit of dappers. I usually have 5 millions on me for pocket change and the rest goes in the Guildhall for in case we have an OP war and need to pay guards or to put a new drill on a freshly acquired OP. But since we don't have one anymore (yay ! No more cleaning the cat mess in Guildhall !) the dappers just stay there and multiply.
I used to make more income, but I don't dig nearly as much, nor as often, and only craft when someone asks me for a jewel set. I'm such a lazy Fyros, I used to call myself a master slacker until I actually started mastering stuff !

Re: Economics and scarcity in Ryzom
I do remember dappers being on the scarce side when I was under lvl 100. I think the income gap between new players and old players is pretty big.
Re: Economics and scarcity in Ryzom
except that the market is broken because good quality gear is hard to find on it. Even if bartering does just finely. Which happens to be what the thread is about i think, but I like the idea of reversing everything homin yubo farmers ;P
Re: Economics and scarcity in Ryzom
I think you all forget, that the game is meant to be social. I.E. youi join guilds etc, and try not to solo.
By realizing that you can not truely solo in this game, and must make some sort of social network in game, most all items that one needs can be obtained.
Some would say that a newb has nothing to offer to a high lvl player, but that is wrong. There are multiple forms of barter, and time can be one. It is not that unreasonable to ask a newb to come to an area with you and heal you while you fight, or cp for you while you dig mats. This has multiple effects. One it allows a newb to "pay" for items that other wise they would be hard pressed to pay for, Two it helps the newb learn more about the game and gain xp in the process.
Not always must the newb do it for you either. It is not that unreasonable to put newbs from another guild with one from your guild to help each other lvl. This can be very beneifical to high lvl players in guild, as it frees them up to dig, hunt etc, gaining more mats to make gear with.
In Summary, yes it would be nice if the Dapper meant something in game, but there is a strong economy in game. It is just it the form of barter which it seems some people seem to think is not economy.

That good gear isn't on market is a not true. In recent weeks I've bought over a dozen great amps. Also I bought 1 of each 2 hand wep Q220 with great stats. One just needs to spend a few minutes a day looking.
