Solved for me! Reinstalling did the trick, and many helpful suggestions were made by Sengosha and others through the CEB Chat support client. Thanks!

In the ryzom program folder you can launch the configuration tool directly try forcing the game to either openGL or directx (do not leave it at auto) and/or try forcing the game to use windowed mode (uncheck full screen).
