Hi guys
Having recently returned and checked my old character, I have a problem with my fame scores. This seems to be because I haven't played this char since the fame system was changed. The main two I'm looking to fix are Zorai and Kami, but I seem to be missing something. I usually prefer not to ask questions and to try and discover the answers myself, but I'd like to get this problem fixed so I can move onto more interesting things
So, my question would be - which NPC do I need to talk to in Zora, to start rebuilding my civ. fame? I tried a few today, and could only really talk to the "courier" NPC. Nice, I thought - a mission! I didn't know if it would provide any civ. fame, but it was a start at least. Sadly, when I reached the target NPC - downstairs in the Embassy - I couldn't hand over the item. I could only see the list of missions that she wouldn't give me, due to the fame problem. Meh
Anyhow, that aside - could someone give me a gentle shove in the right direction please? I know I need the Kami Welcomer to start repairing the faction fame, so no worries there.
Thanks guys

Re: Fixing my "damaged" civ. and faction fames
There are always some patroller npc related to a race that give missions even with negative fame.
Also, some tribe give race fame and the welcomer fame requirement is -65.
Finally, faction npc present at tribes give in some case also race fame with the faction fame.
I don't want to spoil things but, if you want, i can post you the entire fame gain/loss table (raum miss a lot of info). There is an old post from 2007 about this.
I cannot give you directly any npc name, because I am a tryker/karavan/stateless with positive fame with all the races and have no knowledge of specific zoraï npc. Probably some kami lurking the forum can give you a direct pointer.
But if you consider this a special quest, it can be a lot of fun doing it by yourself: search zoraï npc and/or search a zoraï tribe somewhere (being you a kami, there are at least 2 obvious kami tribes that give zoraï fame too. Find them! )
Remember: fame is always fraction of a point, so you will need more missions before you can really see your fame going up.

Re: Fixing my "damaged" civ. and faction fames
Is your current alignment (at the bottom of the fame window) "Unaligned"?
If it is, you need to join a faction first. Either use the "become neutral" buttons to become neutral or see your kami priest to join the kamis (preserving your fame above +49). Same for the civilisation: Click neutral or ask the zorai guy to become a Zorai Initiate, preserving Zora fame above +49.
As long as you are unaligned, your fame values remain frozen, you cannot gain or loose fame with any faction or tribe.

Re: Fixing my "damaged" civ. and faction fames
Thanks guys, much appreciated. Yes, my civ. fame was "undecided", and I had to declare neutral. I seem to have 13 Fyros fame, and 10 Zorai fame now - I believe those stayed the same when I declared neutral, just the maximums went up to 50. These values are not enough to engage the NPC's in Zora, at least the ones I found so far.
It's annoying to be honest, because I only want this fame quickly in order to create a guild - I'd be happy to work slowly on fame later, but that doesn't help me in the short term.
With that in mind, I haven't checked the Civ. fame on my new Fyros character. Will he have sufficient fame to create a guild with the Fyros NPC in Pyr, if I head to the mainland? Or would I still need to gain more after arriving?

Re: Fixing my "damaged" civ. and faction fames
At that fame, you should be able to get missions from all the normal missiongivers in Zoraï. Corporals are favourite for fame-grinding, as is Wu Zhong just outside the gates of Zora.
I've no idea who you're talking to in Zora that you can't get missions from at 10 Zoraï fame. Rite givers are all I can think of.
I'm also fairly sure there's no fame requirements on creating a guild - seeing as the guild starts out neutral no matter which NPC you create it with. You may be thinking of aligning your guild to a civilisation?

Re: Fixing my "damaged" civ. and faction fames
You can create a guild at any time, that doesn't depend on fame.
There is this "new" concept of alignments now. Only alignment is considered when you are trying to JOIN a guild. The guild created will inherit your current alignment, currently neutral. That means you cannot invite Kami or Karavan homins to yours guild.
Kami guilds can invite kami and neutral players, Karavan guilds can invite karavan and neutrals. And... it might be some trouble to switch your guild from neutral to kami later (many members will slow down the changes in guild fame dramatically).
You will want to create a kami guild from start (if you are planning to invite others). You may become kami yourself to create the kami guild... or ask someone kami to create it for you. you can be invited and promoted to leader of a kami guild as a neutral homin.
Civ. Fame ist much the same... Zorai aligned players cannot join neutral guilds, but neutrals can join zorai guilds. You will need a national alignment (become a zorai initiate) to take part in the government of your country, too.

Re: Fixing my "damaged" civ. and faction fames
So does this mean I'm stuck? The *only* NPC I've tried in Zora - other than the Kami Welcomer - who will give me missions, is the courier. All others either will not talk to me, or show missions which I'm ineligible for due to my current fame level. The guild NPC will only give me the "discover the other NPC" missions - he has no options for creating a guild, and nor does he have any further conversation for me it seems. He sends me to another NPC in the same room, and she only has "greyed out" missions due to low fame.
On top of this, the mission given by the courier NPC couldn't be completed, because the target NPC wouldn't talk to me about the item, or let me give the item - but the item was in my possession. It's actually the same NPC as the one for the courier mission. I don't remember her name, but she's situated in the embassy downstairs, close to the guild NPC. I should also be able to get missions from the commander of the guards in Zora, right? In the middle of the podium/raised area outside the embassy? No dice there either - he has no conversation items for me at all.
I am starting to think my char has been well and truly broken by not playing since before the big fame change I definitely do want a "kami or neutral" guild, so Kami fame will do the trick there I guess. But have I got any options at all for rescuing this civ. fame?
Jeez, I haven't actually spoken to the Kami Welcomer in Zora yet - I hope I don't get the same reception from the fuzzy guy...

Re: Fixing my "damaged" civ. and faction fames
Dazman, try do do some mission from the tribe welcomer of Icon Worshipper, in City of Intuition. Only do the 'kill' missions or all that tell you they "will be very grateful" and not just "grateful". Icon worshipper, as i said in my previous post, is one of the 2 kami tribes that give also race fame.
If you cannot get missions from corporals in Zora with +10 zoraï fame, then your char is bugged and you should file a ticket to the devs.

Re: Fixing my "damaged" civ. and faction fames
Dazman, this sounds to me like you are still in the 'undecided' state.
This state was the default for all characters after the fame change. You may need to decide which cultural and cult allegiance you like to follow, before you are able to gain fame again.
