To Jezabel I like to say until yesterday I thought to be one of the veterans of this game, but maybe the fact that I only play since four month after the launch doesn't allow me to call myself veteran. That is okay.

I know that this game isn't about spoon feeding, but npc that give unclear ,often miss leading and sometimes outright wrong information is nothing that has to do we spoon feeding, it is more about wasted time on part of the developers and players. It is one thing to point out bugs, but this event let even me become frustrated, so that I don't report any of the issues related to the event anymore.

Maybe I should take Ulukyn's advise (you can find 1000 reasons to think that logical, and 1000 reasons to think that illogical, it's a game...) and just take all the illogical stuff as a mini-game, just like the 'Wheel of fortune' , only with the difference that I can ignore the 'Wheel of fortune'.

To me it is very disappointing that it makes a difference what I do after killing a Kitin of the Depth.
  • when I don't loot and let it decay, it doesn't count toward the goal
  • when I loot and give the kitin piece to a Kitin Observer of the North, East, South, or West it doesn't count toward the goal
  • when I loot the kitin piece while I am on one of the 'Go and look there, then report to a Surveillance camp'-missions it counts toward the goal
To me this distinction doesn't make any sense in the scope of the event. It only makes sense in the scope of granting rewards to homin.

No offense for the "veteran" term. I was not pointing to you or another one, just speaking generally. Some new players understand better some mechanics than me, even if I am a beta tester of this game. Afterthat, I'm french and has sometimes difficulties to translate my though in english.

It can make sense in the scope of programming and actual game mechanics. The dev team is small and the distinction you talk about is perhaps not a wanted one. They certainly have to compose with the actual mission system.

As you say, it will be better if those distinctions were inexistent.

Funny, like Trini I considered myself to be a veteran but since I failed to grasp all the intricacies of this event right from the start I obviously can't be. For instance I had no idea where to dig the mats needed for the camps nor did I realize they were missions mats previously useless except for missions I never did. Granted some asking in uni cleared up a few things and I knew where to look for additional info but I should have known these things had I been a true veteran.

The fact that I turned up at the distribution camp with my mount was a fluke cause by lazyness on my part. I did not know exterminators had spawned until someone mentioned them in uni and I was blissfully unaware of the KotD untill they killed me while loading.

I makes sense to me that handing in the kitin pieces with the observer counts towards pushing back the invasion and my surprise that doesn't clearly shows what a noob I am.

Point is that while I initially enjoyed the event with the digging and the supply runs (why no crafting missions though?) the invasion has, by now, become to invasive (pun intended)

For someone my level there's still fun to be had but only if I pick my targets carefully or I manage to find a group. However om places are now impassable with even the best of sneaking skills. If this situation lasts for too long people will stop playing or even leave as normal game play is interrupted.

With event like this it should at least be clear how to get rid of the invading kitin in timely manner, in other words where do you turn in your kitin parts, what mission should be active etc. It is great that our actions, or inactions, have consequences but not if it kills the game...

In the future perhaps lowbie crafters and diggers could help to equip guards to keep the zone around the capital safe preventing a situation where all new players can do is hang around in he local bar (which wouldn't be so bad if only you could buy a stinga rum...)
