As far as I know, Arispotles Event team is seriously "undermanned". 4 or 5 guys/girls.
Aniro´s the biggest, with about 25 people and Leanon I think has 8 - 10 volunteers doing this.

It sure would help if more of you would feel inclined to well... help.
But with the amount of discontent flying their way at times like these,
I can of course understand none of you wants to be on the receiving side.

Its a most vicious circle, sadly.

sidusar wrote:That's quite an egregious assumption. Sure, every community can initiate a player event, but they've absolutely zero control over whether the event team will jump in. I can't say about our current event team, but in the past we've certainly seen Aniro to have a much larger event team able to jump onto player events, where Arispotle's event team simply wasn't able to.
The main goal is to fight the kitins. No need of an official event team to organize your own event. If the event team help you it's better but you can do a good job without them. On Aniro the event team was here, cool. But all was initiated and ready before they help! The event team just made the event more powerfull.

The players have found those explanations by themselves since the beginning of the second phase just by listening to the NPC

Spoonfeeding is not the way Ryzom works...
Simply the information that there is something like a second phase in-game could have helped. An update to a status webpage that doesn't show information matching the ones presented by the npcs in-game is a 'non-information' par excellence.

I run player events ALL the time, and have been running them daily since the tower building phase. That being said, I have also encouraged others to use the TRUDGE name to find others to work towards the common goal of gathering mats and making deliveries when I am not online hosting them.

As far as the requirements to reduce the kitin threat, I have stated that previously in this thread, other threads and in unichat since Saturday, but I know there is so much going on that it can be missed.

Ryzom is full of non-information.
Veterans are generally fast to discover hidden mecanisms because of our knowledge of Ryzom, past events and the complexity of the gameplay. The failure in this event is that the knowledge of vets (mecanisms, spots to dig...) should have been more easily distributed to the new players.

My main concern (not only for this event) is that Atys lack a real ingame newspaper for official and non-official events teams. Something easy to consult for young players.

Ini, I´m not talking about player Events. They´re great and I´m trying like you to organize such on Leanon. Along with others :)

What I mean is, applying for the E-Team.
IF there are realy only 4 people on Arispotles, then these guys need desperate help. Probably in translations from German or French, or vice versa.
And they need manpower to act the part of all needed NPCs.

It´s no wonder that the leaders show up so seldom, if nobody's there to act them.

And before you ask or get some other funny notions, I won´t divulge if I´m on any of these teams, or not :p

To the original poster and other new players being frustrated about the event - a few words of encouragement (I hope) :) ...

I joined in october 2006 - right before the end of the previous major swarming event. I was at that time obviously below level 100 in both fight and magic, and I felt the event at that time wasnt something for me as a new player. Everything seemed chaotic. I didnt really understand the game, and everytime I went just a few paces outside Fairhaven I died, before really learning more about how to survive in the game. The event ended shortly after I joined, so I will never know if I actually could have meaningfully participated in the event at that time. But back then I was certain that it wasnt something for me as a new player. Perhabs I was wrong.

I am still below level 100 in fight and magic, my weapons and armor are of sturdy choice quality but nothing more. But what is different this time is that my ´player skills,´the understanding of the game and the flora and fauna of Atys, has improved. This time I am enjoying the event very much. Right, I cant go to my usual digging spots or hunting ground, and I have reached my maximum level of death penalty and tend to stay there - but that is really not an issue I think. DP go away in time, and I have really enjoyed being able to contribute to the project of defending hominity against our archnemesis the Kitin.

And though I have reached max DP, I have also met many new homins in the struggle - I usually meet them when they stumble across my badly wounded body somewhere on a delivery trail and help me out of harms way...

So I continue to struggle on, and even though I am low level, I feel that I have been able to contribute, and most importantly I have had great fun. In the first part of the event, before the swarming, I did all the delivery missions in the four regions, both in teams and solo. Teams are obviously more social and much more fast and efficient for a low level player, but I liked the challenge of doing the deliverys solo as well afterwards. It added to the DP, but it was a great challenge and after a few tries it was possible do to the entire run solo.

For the digging missions, a careplanner is allways needed in a team, regardless of which region or level you are working in.

The common threat of the Kitin, the dangers of travelling alone, the need to work to together to defend the homin civilization... All of this has made homins step forward and band together in a common effort. Finding a team hasnt been difficult, and just to single out one initiative I would like to salute the continued effort of the TRUDGE teams who regularly announce for participants in Universe channel everytime a new delivery or digging mission is underway.

So to all new players finding this frustating - I understand you, Ive been there myself, and the time of a major swarming isnt the best time to learn how to survive or enjoy life on Atys. But rest assured that the event wont go on forever, and in the meentime I hope you´ll join with other homins in our common effort againt the Kitin menace.

Yeah... sigh.. sorry Acridiel, you can't throw this one at us. It has been stated that there are enough Event Team members and that it's silly to think there are only 4 (however, this was stated not too far after the mentioning of Animation4, I'll concede that). Also, I and Inifuss both have attempted to join the Event Team more than once, to try and help fill the void that we see on Arispotle. They don't appear to be taking on any more volunteers (or at least haven't decided to choose us).

So, we have tried to set aside time to help out Arispotle, and Ini has gone so far as to make it happen as unofficial player run events. She has even tried to engage a dialog with the leaders of Atys through the new RP portal, atys.ryzom.com. To my knowledge, she did not receive an answer.

So, you can't fault us for not trying, and Ini is a freakin powerhouse in the aspect of trying to bring Atysians to a spearhead against the Kitin. But, for some reason, her rallying calls fall upon deaf ears from the leaders.

I salute you, Ini!

I just hope that whatever is causing the lack of interaction from the event administrators is resolved soon, however that may need to occur. We need an event team on Arispotle.

Peace,
- Sui

Well as a true Veteran of this game I knew exactly what needed to be done straight from the get go, even without talking to any NPC's or reading the forums, that's just the sheer power that veterans like me have. It doesn't really matter that we are talking about new players here or that i'm covering up for a lack of basic info on what this event entails because as a veteran I don't really have to even explain myself or my motives, I just log on and magic happens, I'm that good....... :D Uhh I'm sorry I couldn't help it.

I think this event could have learned some things from the last one like it and maybe they could have eased off on the spawn of some mobs in certain areas, because simply saying "Atys can be tough get over it, I don't care if you can't play this game as you would like to atm, be like me and spend a week sneaking everywhere..it's fun!" just doesn't cut it. Ryzom can't really afford that sort of attitude now and as ferociously defensive of every aspect of this game as some of you are, you will end up role playing to yourself on a dead planet this way...show some love or if not that at least some perspective of how new players would see this.
