hijati wrote:Alot of hostility in this thread which is nice because it is all civialized. We all have different opinions about what we want to do and dont want to do in a game. The nice thing about Ryzom is that you HAVE A CHOICE. You dont have to go do missions unless you want the reward. You dont have to go do anything in the game that you dont want to. You can level nothing but harvesting and crafting if you wish, and master every land in forage and every craft and still be level 1 in every other tree. That is whats nice about Ryzom the ability to choose. So if you dont wish to try a new mission that is (FIGHT ORIENTED) to have alittle fun and help explain some stuff to new people that dont know what Double Spells are that they get at 100 or anything like that, then you have the OPTION to continue doing exactly what you are doing now and it wont effect you in the least.
I'm afraid that this is a flawed argument for many reasons.

First, and simplest, is that developer time is limited. If the developers decide to turn to a quest-driven game mechanic then that means they are not working on the other things - the things that make Ryzom truly unique.

... bleah... I started writing a bunch more stuff but it's not worth it until we see what they have done with this patch. If the quests do not give XP rewards or gear that will kill crafting and do not lock Atys into a 'storyline' time loop then all is well for now. If not, then I'm sure this discussion will continue :D

Phew,

after just now finishing the Matis Mission, I´ve gotta say:

It´s well done and apart from a few minor typographical errors overall a nice Mission. One thing bugs me though, can you guess what?

Yes, the rewards...
I won´t go into detail, but they´re pretty much out of league of anything anyone can craft for that level. And while I do see the need for a fitting reward after such a challenging Mission-Line, and those things you get are in no way threatening the economy or will give a truly unfair advantage, they do "pack some punch" so to say.
2 unique jewels, a unique vest and at the end you may choose between a unique pike and a unique gun. I chose the pike and it´s a bit similar to the old event pike from waaaay back, so nothing really special, but the jewels and the vest are... interesting to say the least.
Have fun getting them. ;)

Equipment rewards must go away. >.< It doesn't matter what their stats are, they set up an incorrect psychology.

Yeah,

as Gkaldini and Katriell said, they put up a wrong mindset and further the "Item Hunt" Syndrome. IF the Devs will continue this trend and add special Items to get by higher level Missions.

I´m as opposed to that as I can be!
If everyone comes to run around with the same weapon some day we´re screwed.

How does this differ from the NPC armour plans, crystals and cats that are given out by the various NPC bosses.

Seems the same to me, just a lower level.

It's a bit different: there are only 4 raids, you need months to get a set and crafters are rewarded with plans. And this is an end game content.

We always advised ryzom as the only one now with a real crafting system that have a meaning, even with not ready-made recipes. It's one of the strongest point of the game and you want this screwed up?
