you don't need credit card. PayByCash allows you to pay by sending money through the mail or bank transfers.

Re: Billing's back FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)
I for sure did and my (almost panicky) response was to send the customer support an email requesting the deletion of my account.memiki wrote:I am sure it was an error in translation. It is not like they were out to confuse anyone.
I read it and just thought ok, so if you want it you will pay for it. But then I don't read very good.
But you really didn't think that everyone was going to have to pay did you?
They have (at least in my case) a correct adress, so sending a bill is no hassle to them, and I think, even if a translation issue, the currently sent wording in that email leaves no room for misunderstanding.
There's not really room for interpretation, I think.email wrote: CAUTION: In two weeks all accounts will become paying accounts [...]
Re: Billing's back FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)
I agree the wording was confusing and they could clarify, even in a mail (strange enough I received three times the same one though) or in a sticky thread. Although the text "In two weeks all accounts will become paying accounts" indeed implies that you would be automatically put in "pay mode" unless you "opt-out", I don't see how they could automatically do this without info such as CC -- they were crystal clear saying they don't have/store payment info --silan wrote:There's not really room for interpretation, I think.
I saw it more like "after the free trial period accounts will become inactive accounts (unsubscribed); you will then be able to activate your account in <page> choosing your payment option blah"..When they say "all accounts will become paying accounts" I take it "all accounts will be required to pay to stay active"...

Faq update :
* Will the billing system automatically debit payment for my account at the end of the free trial period?
No, your account will be unsubscribed at the end of the free trial period and all access to Ryzom services will be withdrawn. To play again you will have to manually choose a payment method and subscribe.
If you do not wish to receive emails from us, you can change the settings on account page. Your account and characters will be stored indefinitely just in case you choose to return Ryzom at a later time.

Re: Billing's back FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)
I guess Silan, my thought was they have to have correct billing information.
So I was not concerned, basically the credit info I had many years ago is not any good anymore.
Plus you have to have the current expiration date for it to be activated.
Thank you Mokoi and Yumeroh for clearing it up for people.

Re: Billing's back FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)
Thing is that in today's internet world, you just have to be careful.
And with a perfectly fine address, I can send a perfectly valid bill. Since they have the first..
but yeah, it's been clarified now, which is good.
Still, not the best way to start business, for a company taking over the game.

Re: Billing's back FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)
Of course I didn't, but I've been around the whole time and kept myself informed of what's been going on and the way that these new folks seem to communicate (or avoid communicating), so I already knew what they meant before I read it.memiki wrote:But you really didn't think that everyone was going to have to pay did you?
They sent that email to every address on file though I'm sure, including people that signed up for a free trial years ago and haven't given it a second thought since, so the assumption that everyone would know that they didn't mean what that said is a pretty big one.

Thanks Mokoi and Yumeroh for clearing that up!
