Returning after 4 years.

Post by ruby555 »

I tried ryzom in the beginning of 2005 when I had my gateway laptop with a 32 mb video card, 512 mb ram, and 2 GHZ processor.

While I loved the game itself, running the game was a nightmare.

I was also on 56k so the lag and disconnects and freezes were just nonstop and after trying to put up with it for a week I gave up.

I got a nice new dell a short time ago which can easily handle ryzoms requirements.

I was able to retrieve my user name and password from the account I made in early 2005.

I just got the game fully installed and patched and am looking forward to see how the game is now that I can actually play it.

I just had a few questions before I logged in.

When I started the game in 2005 I got into a guild type setting and they gave me some jewelry and items.

I spent some time harvesting to.

I know for a fact since I play many mmorpg's just like items in real life. some items can become rarer and very valuable later on.

I am wondering if im holding any type of gear or items that are no longer able to be required.

My last question is about pvp. I love to pvp, but I do not believe in ganking.

I like to pvp with people when its consensual and both sides have a somewhat equal chance.

I am wondering how much pvp there is in ryzom? and is there any benefits to pvp?

I saw something about when you keep a outpost which you need to defend through pvp that you can then have access to extremely rare harvesting materials to make top end gear.

I am going to log into the game now and see how it is, thank you for answering my questions in advance and feel free to suggest anything you may feel may help me.

Welcome back, your guild may still be around :)

Equipment is still the same.

Currently the only type of PvP that people take part in, is Outpost battles, but with the restoration of honour points, that may change. You can always just flag yourself for PvP, there are plently of people that do that still.

Your items are likely to not have requirement caps on them, so that makes them pretty rare. Depending on the items themselves, the value of that may or may not increase as compared to other comparable items. I can't really remember what other types of changes might affect the items you have from back then.

You are entering the game during a transition phase. We just got hit (in a very good way) with changes that affect, and will likely increase heavily, PvP. Take a look at other recent forum posts, particularly the latest release post, for more info.

Outposts give you access to materials and items that you cannot gain from elsewhere. The materials can be used to craft items that cannot otherwise be crafted.

Welcome back to the game :) . You're joining us at a very exciting time.

Peace,

I've also heard there are some fairly rare event rewards that were not made available to that many people. I imagine you would have remembered something like that and already been aware of it.

If you want to say that the old equipment is still usable, you are correct. But a lot of the equipment did change during the past 4 years. Light armor now has a level requirement, and jewels have resists and damage absorption that works in a different way than they did four years back.

But most things stayed the same.

From my point of view it's you who is doing the misleading, helomax. What Suibom said is 100% correct. Thing have changed much this week. Who knows where it will end up?

(Oh and can you please use the "quote" button next time? Your post confused me no end until I realized you were quoting Suibom)

Yrkanis?
What's up with Yrkanis?

PvP??
Where?
Sign me up!!

I am returning after 4 and a half years.

(well not entirely sure yet but will see...)

I will "forget" my faction PvP to on just for giggles.
Dunno about the dungeons ..err I mean caves though..dunno if I can reactivate my old character since the billing isn't on yet. Can I?
Also I enjoy the view near the Outposts..for occasional relaxing and just killing Mobs.. (yeah right)
