So after we start paying, will we get to know who Spiderweb is ?

Hopefully they are too busy creating new game content
Re: So after we start paying, will we get to know who Spiderweb is ?
Times running out, whoever you are....
Seven page threads on a forum with this little activity asking who you are is going to put lots of people off; this really isn't doing your buisness any favours at all - new players coming to these forums are not going to like the look of this at all.
We need to know who Spiderweb is, who Winch Gate is, what the relationship between the two is, who this (undoubtably lovely) lady in Cyprus is and where our money will be going to at the very least.
A lack of a clear explanation for the above will lose you sales and therefore money - so you can't argue there is no buisness case for taking an hour to spell it out for us.

Personally I don't see why not knowing this information would put new players off?
When I try a new game I download the trial, if its good then I might sub for a month or so and if the game keeps me sweet the owners keep getting my money. At no point do I look up who they are or want to know their relationships with other companys.
If the game keeps me happy they get my money, if it blows they don't.

I always wake up the morning after wondering "where did all the money go?" This question is just one of the eternal mysteries of life. Don't fret about it.fadebait wrote:...and where our money will be going ...

The whole "who is taking my money?" question is a bit odd really, when you think about it. The game is still operational right now, for free - courtesy of the very people you're potentially casting doubt upon While I do appreciate the curiosity, I don't really think there's any real need for suspicion. The best thing everyone can do, until they receive some information about "our benefactors(tm)", is go for a monthly subscription, and avoid committing a large amount of money to unknown suppliers You won't get the best value for money admittedly, but your money will be safe, and if anyone does run off with the proceeds, the amount lost per head will be fairly small.

I don't either - normally.
But then normally I don't need to.
http://www.lotro.com/ - says who produces and runs it on the front page.
http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/index.xml - says who produces and runs it on the front page.
http://www.warhammeronline.com/ - says who produces and runs it on the front page.
Any other buisness operating legally in the uk - says who they are on the website.
http://www.ryzom.com/en/ - doesn't.
I might be prepared to overlook that... but Ryzom has been bankrupt twice now, was bought by a highly secretive company named Spiderweb International. It somehow seems to have been transferred to Winch Gate. Who we still don't know anything about.
I'm not even sure what's happening now is legal, let alone being concerned for my money.
The "servers are up, we have updates, it's working - who cares about anything else" people are either young, stupid or naive. Sorry, but you really should be worried about this if you have any common sense in the slightest.
Were I a new player I would download the trial, play it and enjoy it. I would be alarmed at the number of posts speculation on the ownership, and extremely concerned that the company wanting my money was not prepared to let me know who they were. At that point I would most likely leave it and play something else.

Okay, while I appreciate the support a lot of you are and have been giving to Ryzom and their new owners. I find most of the positive posts in this thread very naive.
I'm not one to be very negative about things usually, try to see the good side and all that. But never do I not know where my money goes when I pay for something, if I know I can look up the info easily and it is presented to me, which it always is because that's how you do business, then I don't worry about it.
In this case nothing is quite clear about ownership and where they are located, maybe that doesn't bother a bunch of you but personally that's not how I do business, no matter how large or small a transaction it would be. Also of course I'm very grateful the game is free, for now, it's when payment comes back up that we'll need to see some more info.... Also people who pointed it this may have a negative impact on prospective players have a point.
It's not ***** or whining or being ungrateful, it's simple logic. That said I will sub whenever they let us, and if the company folds or something happens where that money goes wasted that will be okay too because at least I will have had my fun while it lasted. And if the company and Ryzom goes on and development picks up then I'll be happy knowing my money went to the right place.
