true, but there is no filter in-game to ensure that a player doesn't see those words (like that found in WoW and some other MMOs). The in-game text is basically controlled by the CSRs and is limited to on or off... Either a player accepts the warning and stops using such language or the player is muted and cannot speak at all.

The rating is mostly likely due to the violence in the game. Fighting with swords, burning NPCs, etc. All of that stuff is considered 12+ as long as there is no blood involved and the violence isn't done in an ultra-realistic fashion. Swinging a stick and seeing a few sparks fly off on the mob: 12+

Well the game does cover death, fighting, guns, murder, religion, so a fair rating if you ask me.

I dont think any MMO should have a rating under that tbh

Killing in the name of a faith, encouraged in past events, acceptable in the gameworld. A kid of nine is susceptible to learn from this and not yet mature enough to divide it from the real world. Watching and listening to the extremists views and actions, and seeing that they are accepted and even loved by some.

Nobodys mention the chat room aspect of it either, would you like your 10 year old daughter spending dozens of hours each week chatting to 25-35 year old males until the early hours of the morning? some of those males pretending to be females

It has to be in the TOS or they couldn't get the rating.

In other words, the board reviews the game and asks certain questions. If they wanted to allow offensive language, their rating would have to go up.

Or, at least, that adds to the overall rating.

Online interactions are not rated by ESRB. I don't know about other rating services.
