Well it's been a while but never fear; I've been keeping my ear to the ground and keeping an eye out for all the latest news.
Just the other day I was at the bar in Fairhaven when I overheard two homins mention a name I'd not heard in a long time. The Famous Riffy Rithy of the Guild of Hawkers has been on a long expedition and is returning tomorrow. No doubt he'll have many stories to tell from such a long journey. That's one reason why a reporter like myself shall be making sure that I'm near Fairhaven stables at 8pm GMT (3pm EST // 12pm midday PST) on Thursday 15th Jan.
I also overheard that the expedition he was sent on was of great importance to the Guild of Hawkers. The chairman himself, Padger O'Toogh, has personally requested that Riffy report directly to him on his return. I wonder what it's all about....
Hope to see you there!
Update 9.12pm GMT, Thursday:
Update 9.50am GMT, Friday:Homins...
As a reporter I have had to witness some scenes that have stayed with me for a while. I can assure you, tonight was no exception. Seeing Riffy's blood dripping down his face, the passion from his voice and the look in his eyes... Haunting.
But as a reporter it is my duty to report, so I must go on !
Today the famous hawker Riffy Rithy appeared before us in Fairhaven. Padger O'Toogh, the chief of the Guild of Hawkers was waiting with us at the Bar; we had planned to celebrate the return of a friend who had been away for so long but it turned out that the fates had other plans. Riffy appeared in the distance - he was barely able to walk and blood was streaming down his face. The homins around us quickly jumped up and carried him into the bar where he was settled and relieved to be back amongst friends after so long in the dark Prime Roots.
Even though he was obviously in a lot of pain, he still managed to report to Padger that he had a convoy of three packers who were with him while he was travelling from the Desert where his path took him through the Prime Roots. At some point on his journey he was ambushed by Kitin who quickly swarmed all over him; frightened by the situation his convoy of Mektoubs scattered and ran but somehow Riffy manged to escape alive. !
Now here comes the interesting bit everyone; during the course of all this Padger asked Riffy if the "Special Item" Riffy had unearthed was on his person. Riffy replied negatively and that it was on one of his packers when he was attacked. This sparked Padger to ask the homins in attendance to find Lady Ailan, The Governor of New Trykoth so that he could speak with her.
Now I can't be sure, but I'm sure I heard "Amber Cube" start to be mentioned. could this be a new Amber Cube?
As always I shall endevour to discover more !
Update Midnight, Friday:The plot thickens!
Lady Ailan has requested that I make this announcement for her:
Lady Ailan wrote:Friends,
As I'm sure you know by now, the honourable Tryker hawker Riffy Rithy arrived back in Fairhaven recently. Injured from a Kitin attack, he bravely managed to find his way in from the desert. His convoy of Mektoub Packers have fled; now scattered across the depths of the Prime Roots. However, at the time of the attack they were carrying valuable items which could now be lost.
Thankfully Riffy is now fully recovered from his wounds and, after great discussion, he has revealed to me that one of his three Mektoub's was carrying a previously undiscovered Amber Cube. The knowledge hidden within this cube could unlock secrets or help us advance greatly as a society. Of course, it could be the recipe for Stinga Rum! But if there is even the slightest of chances that this amber cube could prove invaluable to us as Trykers, then we must search for it.
After much deliberation on our best plan of action, I have decided that we will need help from experts in Prime Roots. The tribe calling themselves "Cockroaches" have all but cut their ties to us homins on the Bark due to events in their past, yet they know the Prime Roots better than any other Tryker. Fortunately, Padger still has connections to them and he shall be able to act as an ambassador on my behalf. I fear that their distrust of us will still be great, even with Padger's help, but I hope you will do anything they request to secure their aid.
I request that any Tryker or friend of New Trykoth be present at the entrance to Fairhaven at 10PM GMT (5pm EST // 2pm PST) today to escort Padger to the camp of the Cockroaches. Remember that the Prime Roots are a very dangerous place, so please remember to equip yourselves accordingly for your own protection.
I hope that the Spirit of the Tryker shines through and we are able to succeed in gaining the Cockroaches' trust and aid. For without it, I fear all shall be lost.
Signed,
Lady Ailan Mac'Kean
Governor of New Trykoth and the Federation of Aeden Aqueous
Update 1pm GMT, SundayI heard what you all did; well done everyone! It sounds like that Vorax was quite the challenge! Lady Ailan has asked me to pass on another message to you all:
Lady Ailan wrote: Friends,
Padger O'Toogh has reported back to me that you all performed admirably tonight! So admirably in fact that Ba'caunin Jidgen, Chief of the Cockroaches, has agreed to help us in our endeavour. My sincerest thanks to you all.
The Cockroaches have already proved their worth as scouts and have relayed to me that they have discovered the rough locations of the packers we seek. Sadly their past treatment was so horrific that they refuse to tell us for fear that we will recover the cube without them... We must meet them tomorrow and recover the packers together.
Please will you all meet me tomorrow at 8pm GMT (3pm EST // 12pm midday PST) at the entrance to Fairhaven so that I can give you the meeting point and wish you luck for the good of all hominkind.
Signed,
Lady Ailan Mac'Kean

Homins, it is truly a sad day. I will let Lady Ailan explain
Lady Ailan wrote:Brave homins,
The Cockroaches have returned the Amber Cube to us and its contents have been deciphered. While I wish I could say that the knowledge contained within it brings me joy, sadly it makes for very solemn reading indeed. For years, the Tryker people and myself have not known the details of the end of my famous ancestor, the brave Loria herself who freed our people from the Matis. All we knew until now is that on her return to Trykoth after signing the Treaty of Karavia, she disappeared in the Prime Roots after leaving a hasty note that she thought she was being chased. Now it seems we know the sad truth of the matter, in what appears to be a diary of one who was at the front of it all.
I have made the contents of this Cube available for all to see in the hopes that never again shall such things happen on Atys, and I beg you to leave this ugly past behind us and not to seek revenge - for surely all those with any hand in it are now long gone.
Once again, I deeply thank you all for your efforts in retrieving this piece of my family history, and wish you all well.
Signed,
Lady Ailan Mac'Kean
Governor of New Trykoth and the Federation of Aeden Aqueous
