It's very easy for anyone to hijack any payment method. It doesnt stop me from using ATM's. It doesnt stop me from buying online using Ebay. It wont stop me paying for subscriptions for other MMORPG's and it wont stop me from paying for Ryzom.
And I would consider it a scam if they took my money, left Ryzom the way it is (maybe a few tiny patches just to keep everyone hanging on) and used the bulk of the money to create a new game.
I would agree. However. Seeing as the development team is run by someone from the original (and all exhaulted) Nevrax I cant see that as a plauseable possibility. Also their first patch wouldnt be to rmeove the fact people could cheat. It would be to provide some small content, as thats what the players want. If the new owners wanted to scam us. they'd tell us that everything is going to be amazing, to keep us here. Add that to the
http://dev.ryzom.com/ site. Makes that seem more unlikely.
I can think off-hand of several other possible less-than-honest things that could be going on, many of which would fulfil my definition of 'scam'.
Please, do. I'd happily debate it.
Apart from anything else, unless they provide this information they will actually be breaking the law once billing goes live in the UK at least and quite possibly a few other countries.
To form a contract (in the UK) yes. you must know the names of all parties involved. But you're assuming that on billing it wont say who you've paid. IE "Pay Winch Gate". You're also assuming that a company who are able to leagally buy the game have no idea of the basic legal obligations for charging for services.
Feel free to rush to judgement as always Anatti - you continue to be one of my least favourite people on these boards (I've tried to avoid you as much as possible in game), but I had chalked you up for slightly more intelligence than: "Oh, we already have the game so it cannot possibly be a scam". Idiot.
Actually it's not rushed. What i have seen is a company (of at least 2 potentials) buy up ryzom, after a really long messed up legal problem. Tell us what they planned on doing and kept to their word. Their first patch removes cheating from the game and fixes simple bugs. The launch a dev site and set up events and expand the support team structure.
It's nice to be disliked. Thanks. Shame the feeling isnt mutual. I can think you're a bit of a paranoid person. But seeing as i dont know who you are. *shrug*. Also youve not had to avoid me. Ive not been ingame with Anatti for a very long time. So please, dont try and make it out to be that im ruining your ingame time.
I think one thing you are forgetting here is that Ryzom has never made money. Theres no scam/con potential here. not without vast vast vast quantities of work. Take that to the fact the "Scammers" are already way way into the red. Keeping servers running etc etc.
