Depends on your definition. I prefer to think of it as the First Cup Of Tea Of The Day of Ryzom, after it's having Woken Up From Very Significantly Oversleeping back when the servers came up

Well imo Spiderweb have already failed before they have begun..Marketing and advertising of the game would have been more successful in the free to play stages. Now that it is becoming a pay to play mmo once again you intend to intise new players to join a community whom degrade new players which dont fall in line with the nuetral political playing style of their beloved Ryzom..Well good luck with the existing community, and hope they can create enough alt accounts to keep you running for a bit.

Advertising during the free-to-play time would have been mostly futile and could've given the game and its company a bad reputation. Despite all assurances to the contrary by Spiderweb and veteran players, people would have thought Ryzom was F2P and would remain so. Then they'd be shocked when it went back to P2P and call Spiderweb liars and cheats.

What more could you wish for? Maybe more free play on Ryzom I hear you ask? Well we have listened and for the month of January you will still be able to enjoy playing the game of Ryzom for free.

I wouldn't bet on it, one way or another.
This time around there are (again) some obstacles that might prove to big.
First you have the financial recession across the globe - with many loosing jobs (less money).
Second, the advertisement hasn't been improved much.
Then there is a continued lack of information about the game's future etc.

I don't know about others, but what made me start playing the Saga of Ryzom and continue the subscription was the "future and direction" that was suggested by Nevrax.
And for a long time I enjoyed Atys. But it gets old over time - and it gets lonesome when most your old friends move on. Trying to build an atmosphere where new friends stay requires a lot of time and dedication - and if even that fails - what to do next?

I think it's a good thing that the accounting will resume - perhaps a new generation of players will enjoy this game as much as we did.

Where old players like me who have put this game on hold, fits in I am not sure hehe

You certainly weren't alone, if the years of people pining for that future and direction were any indication. It was a particular handful of people, primarily, and their objects of desire either never materialised or turned out differently than they wanted. I expect those pie-in-the-sky features to remain nonexistent forever. Spiderweb would be silly to re-promise the same things and/or commit to fantastical new projects that inspire the veterans and prospective players alike but would probably never reach fruition, or at best wouldn't arrive in a timely manner.

I have been around quite awhile, stay for years left for years now back again.
I don't care how many other games I have played in between Ryzom is still in my heart.
I am not a powerleveler, so that never interests me. I love Ryzom Lore and enjoy exploring and just crafting or harvesting something. But it is to bad that it doesn't keep a large majority of people happy. They always want more and more and it is hard for any company to keep ahead.
I don't believe the average person realizes just how hard it is for a game to work. Oh yeah I have heard the ones that say oh I could write that code in a few hours. Gee maybe you should make that "perfect game" everyone wants.
I am happy they are at least making an effort, and to me this was an effort.
I am happy to just be back in the game.
Maybe SW doesn't say much and at first I kind of was a bit miffed but then I think about other games "oh you will do this, we will have that" and it doesn't materialize either so why promise anything. Also as someone up above state,right now with the way things are it has to be really difficult.
I will be glad when billing does come back as then only people that really want to pay will be in game, I hope.
This is of course, just my opinion.

Considering that I had just paid for max length of both my accounts, 1 month before shut down. I dont have the money to reactivate my account.

Unless something happens on my end, financial wise, I doubt Ill be back.
