Seems I recall reading on page 1 of this thread start date is approximately February, says they are extending 1 month and january is free. but at least they have the pay system up and running now

Actually there’s no indication whatsoever that the date is approximately anything. There’s also no indication that they have the pay system up.

I’m happy to see progress though. This along with the server side patch is nice to see.

Well, it's been a fun trip back to Atys. I purchased at launch, and played for about a year before becoming a bit jaded to the concept of paying a monthly fee to play. Unfortunately, with all of the free content out there (I am currently playing AO) I cannot justify a recurring service fee. See you all some where else,

Running Avast antivirus + storing Ryzom on a hard drive / partition with an Ext filesystem accessed on Windows via "Ext2 IFS"?

Probably not, but it doesn't hurt to ask.

I *do* use Avast. (and always have, including a year of steady Ryzom play)

Filesystem is NTFS local drive, nothing funky.

Is Avast a known issue? I could certainly turn it off if it is.

It isn't. I just had an obscure issue for a while where running any executables stored on an Ext drive resulted in a bluescreen, because there was a conflict between Avast and Ext2 IFS.

I'm glad that the Spiderweb team have perservered with the project, and I hope the shift to paid accounts brings the opportunities that Ryzom deserves. I'm really not enjoying the current offerings in the MMO market, so who knows - I may resub and provide some support to the Ryzom project

Either way, I'm very interested to see the developments and improvements that Spiderweb will make.
