Players like Twina are the reason I will wait and see...

Post by beaut666 »

Every time I have logged in now, there is some...hmm...sad individual cursing or talking about smoking dope or whatever.

I have had to report people once or twice, but the chatter still goes on. I like to keep Uni on, because in the olden days (1 and half years ago hehe) the Uni channel was sacred. Sure, maybe a lil chatter got in now and then, but you had a reliable community to police itself and staff on hand to enforce it.

If they cannot keep a handle on it now, what will happen once it goes "official"? One of the saddest things is to see children (or adults that act like them) throw a childs' tantrum, just to pop in Uni again a few days later.

Not to stir up trouble, but why not. This community was ,at one time, the jewel of the MMO market, and I think it still is, but I hope that it is not allowed to turn into any other games "General Chat."

Anyway, whatev. Wanted to post this in that thread so I could tell that 3 year old to stuff it, but it got locked.

I have noticed that in several cases lately it seems like the only punishment anyone ever gets for bad behaviour is a mute. Sure maybe the more times they earn that, the longer it lasts or more channels it applies to, but it seems like gone are the days when repeat offenders would get a more meaningful punishment like a ban (even though that wasn't always permanent either in those days :p ). It makes me wonder if SW has neutered the powers of our CSRs, or if it's just that SW doesn't communicate with the CSRs at all so they're afraid of overstepping boundaries that SW hasn't laid out yet...

I think one issue is that we rarely see any CSRs other than Seng, who I don't think has the power to mute and definitely not to ban. Presumably, then, this will get better as Seng and the new CSRs are promoted.

I would, however, suggest that Guides be given muting powers... I understand them not being able to ban, but to mute is a hard power to abuse or misuse; and even if a junior CSR did screw up with a mute, someone childish enough to make a fuss over such a simple, inconsequential mishap probably shouldn't be allowed access to uni in the first place.

Just to be clear, I am not questioning the abilities or the quality of work done by the staff. To be totally honest, I have no IDEA who our new hosts are, being that the only person I have ever seen in game and on the forums that is familiar is Boroshi.

I don't care if they want to stay silent and let the Uni chat turn into the regular old MMO chat..then at least I will know what it is and will just shut it off. I typically run around with it off already.

Also, I am not against having uni be open to some fun off topic chat. But when someone starts screaming the F word, demanding justice, then other players come on here doing the same without the thread being destroyed as well as all the other numerous examples of players slipping the random pot story or curse word into Uni, then I know something might not be clicking.

Let me be very clear, but let me say that this is my opinion only:

Ryzom's shining star was it's community. Honestly I still haven't leveled over 138 because leveling to 250 is BORING. I like the people, the lore, the mystery and the digging! :)

If the uniqueness of Ryzom's community, of it's lore or of it's mystery starts to break down, the core of the game has broken down.

I am not saying this has happened. But, I am saying that I am simply going to wait and see how it pans out, because I go to Ryzom to relax, not to watch some kid (more likely an adult, which is worse) get very very angry at a videogame.

Just my two cents.

I am not going to argue - this comunnity doesnt need this - but Beue - ive been here 5 years with 6 peeeps - you come after 1 and 1/2 years and partonise why I am so angry???

Im not angy with people that play - I am angry with the general aspcet of the game in general. I dont want to argue - i dont need to - look whats happened to a great game with no amrketining.

I stir up crap trying to create something on a forum - might not be your idea or others of getting clients - but least ive been faithfull 5 years to a doomed game.

And when I post negatove crap - its only cuase im drunk - iI LOVE Ryzom _ way before you even knew about it.

YES i agreee my methodss and attitude sometimes are very bad - buyt mixed with alcohol and deprrsssion and lack of one thing that gavbe me sdome inspirastion in life - I get angry - sorry.

Well, then how about cutting back on the drinks for a start?
This may sound worn out, but realizing that you´ve got a problem is the first step to solving it.

If Beau hasn´t got the "right" to berate you, maybe I have. ;)
Man, get a grip and look at yourself.
If you really think acting in such a way will solve the problems you´ve got with the game, then all I can tell you is that there´s never been peace through superior volume power. Or abusive, verbal firepower for that matter.

You´re right in stating your concerns, but not correct in the way you do it.
Blaming it on being drunk will not let you of the hook, it will only decrease your chances of being taken seriously.
So, please, for your own sake, try and stop drinking.
It doesn´t help at all.

I dont think Beau has the right to single out Twina in the title of a thread, for a start, especially as he says its been an ongoing thing for him with other people apart from Twina.

For the record, yeah Twina had a couple of blips in Uni chat, sure, but when you bring up how great this community is, please consider all the help Twina gives in Uni, the minor indiscretions she made, pale into insignificance, compared to all the good she does for new players, offering help and equipment, regardless of race or faction.

I hope her ban is, number one, explained properly to her and number two, that it is temperory.

My 2 cents.
