Ideas for not leaving the game after being lvl 250 for a while ?

Come in, pull up a chair, let's discuss all things Ryzom-related.

Should there be something else after lvl 250 besides helping others ?

For me LOTRO has a high suck value, thats just my opinion, its no less valid than anyone elses.

I hate the quests, I hate having to spam LFG for ages to do some of the group quests, I hate when you cant get a good grind team going, once people get their little quest done, poof! they are gone.

I hated the maps at the end game, yeah I know that they follow the books route, but jeesus it was depressing.

The crafting has a really high suck value, you will be Lv 50 before you can craft anything of worth, which is .... worthless to you.

I hated the lack of fluidity of the combat, Archer/Ranger whatever they were called there.... Hunter? (too many mmo's) have to just stand and shoot, I hated that coming from Lineage and other games where ranged classes kite.

Champion wasn't nice to play either, with all the stances, I prefer the fluidity of Ryzom, Lineage and others.

Loremaster looked stupid, when casting a fire spell, he looked like he was searching in his pocket for a box of matches.... wtf?

meh I could go on, suffice to say we differ on this .... but I'm right :p

This thread would have been postponed about a year if the server was wiped first then started.

There are a bunch of problems raising:
I. what Sehraci said: newbies are drowned in help, there is no challenge left for them, nothing to strive for and no reason for new guilds to exist.

II. for old players (more or less ahwat Ani said) - their content can be addressed only with expensive development, like SOE used to do, opening new areas every now and then, some based on free explore and fight/hunt, some on quests, really something we cannot reasonably expect SW to do in at least a year from the paying system fix.

And I would have felt lonely because a lot of my guild members and friends wouldn't have come back. :(

I think it all falls back to how you were "brought up" in the game. My biggest excitement in game was that first night we actually managed to reach Dyron. After weeks of playing, and no vets to lead, we actually made it to Dyron .... wow a new region, finally reached thru hard work, skill development, and searching out various routes. Congratulations abounded as other players finally realized, "Yes, getting to another town is in reach".

And that sense of wonder was repeated when we actually made it to Thesos and after a few months the portals opened and we entered an entirely new region where we were completely and immediately wiped. So we kept trying, grabbed a few more levels, tried afew more routes and finally made it down the ramp into Matis.

The wonder was repeated when Tryker land opened up and a few of us actually made it to the Lakelands. When the ganme went "retail" we had to do it all over again but the sense of discovery stuck. Contrast this to the new player who sits in SIlan to level 50, arrives in a home city and then is sheparded around all regions and has all TP's in the first week. It all goes by in a blur and there's no opportunity for sidetrips as the trek leaders are on a mission to complete the trek in as short a time as possible so they can get back to what they were doing.

And then we have cats. While I would like to see them retained for crafting usage, I would be quite happy if they were disabled for everything else. With three guildies working out of team, and a stack of cats, a new player can be at level 100 in days. Even playing solo, when ya blast out 140 levels (101-171 x two trees) in a weekend, the regular "every day progression" pales by comparison.

It's much easier to appreciate something you have earned than something that was handed to you. Want the excitement of a challenge ? Solo trek Loria north to south, try and take on big mobs with two man teams.

In short, the key to enjoying end game content is not blowing by all the content on ya way there.

(In short, the key to enjoying end game content is not blowing by all the content on ya way there.) TY Jared :)

I've been playing for awhile now, i have one Master. Before the game went down i had been digging /crafting . I had taken a look at where i was, what i had accomplished with Vrixy and Rihannon.

I had leveled alot of melee skills etc , then took a break and decided to try digging /crafting . I found what alot already had that i enjoy making things, for my guildies or whoever needed whatever. I had time during the downtime to think of that and when Ryzom came back i went to my dig /craft .

And yes i have alts im working different skills with them and some of the same ,the point is i enjoy it :) I'm not after any masters if i wanted masters i'd have gotten them already . Take time to smell the Roses and breathe in what Atys has to offer .

Sorry if this is a bit off topic but it is how i feel .

TBH - after what 5 years since Beta and nothing but OP´s brouht in and a few treats at Easter, Christmas and some vaguely negligent attempts to make "a party or special event" - I think that its about time something was added to the game.

Not my first character - first ones I did rush to Masters as I used to power-level. This time I took it easy and still leveled fast as I knew the lands and how to level by now easily with or without so much support (in the early years leveling in team was easy - now its very slacking and disappointing).

If a game cant bring new content and expansions in after so many years - what the fck have devs been doing apart from twidling thumbs and fixing crappy patches for bugs etc? yeah yeah its changed company twice now and has had financial probs - maybe if there was expansion packs they would GENERATA some real life on Atys and have people BUYING the goods - thus making an investment that not only markets but also keeps old timers here.

As for paying next year - hmmm - think I´ll pass on that probably - there are too many games out there - agreed - "non like Ryzom or its community" - but the community is so tiny now it really is impotent.

For those that say "small but friendly community is great" - well good luck - as that doesnt feed the devs and give an influx of cash, nor does it interest new players to be playing online almost alone - and if you didnt play about 4 years back - you will have no idea how different the community was - in terms of size and friendliness.

Just my opinion.

Just looking at Vrixys post, maybe, Vrixy is the population :D

But yeah, small and friendly doesn't pay the bills, and a bunch of old farts like us in our ivory towers (huh? :) ), isn't much of an incentive for new players to stay, with empty levelling areas etc.

I didn't. How was it?

Larger, I know. Was it friendly?

I really regret that I never heard of Ryzom before two years ago.

For me, the quality of the community is the number one most important feature, and the primary reason I'm here and not elsewhere.
