Re: Error Connecting (please help!)
Download/run this: http://dl.kami-alliance.info/ryzom_fixer.exe
If it doesn't work first time, try renaming the 'client.cfg' file (found in your ryzom root directory) to 'client.cfg.old', then running the fixer again.

Re: Error Connecting (please help!)
I receive the same error in Vista.
What I have found:
-The ryzom_fixer listed above does not correct the issue, even if I remove the old config before running it.
-The only way I have been able to correct this is by reinstalling.
-If I run Ryzom from the installer (ie Run Ryzom checkbox is selected when the installer finishes) it works fine.
-After Quitting Ryzom, and then starting it again, it give the 404 message.
-If I install Ryzom but do not run it immediately, the 404 message happens when I do run it.
-If I navigate to the Ryzom directory, and run client_ryzom_rd as a normal user it will not work.
-If I navigate to the Ryzom directory, right click on client_ryzom_rd and "Run As Administrator" it works fine.
-If I right click the desktop Icon, "Run As Administrator" the batch script will not find client_ryzom_rd.
From what I have found, it seems that there is a compatibility issue at hand here with Ryzom running on Vista. A temporary work around is to edit your Ryzom shortcut to point directly to client_ryzom_rd and use "Run as Administrator" to successfully launch it. Another potential work around would be to alter the batch script to perform the "Run as Administrator" action on the executable itself.
Oddly, this error only started presenting itself yesterday (Sept 25th).
Hopefully my explorations will give way to a better fix for this issue.

Re: Error Connecting (please help!)
in Vista, 'c:\program files\Ryzom' location is no-no, BIG NO-NO actually.irukandji wrote:Phew, at least you figured out a way to play with out re-install everytime :s

however 'c:\Users\YourUserName\Ryzom' is yes-yes.
.. no need to reinstall, probably only client.cfg is reset. use fixer or manual editing to fix it.
