We would like to remind you of a very basic rule to prevent you from possible account stealing. *Never* give your password to anyone if they ask for it, no matter who they claim to be. Don't give it to the devs or the CSR team as we don't need it to help you in any situation. Anyone who asks you for your login name and password could be planning to use it for fraud or account theft and should be both avoided and reported to the CSR team (take a screenshot of them asking for your password).
Some other steps you can take for your own security, apart from never telling anyone your password, can be seen below.
- Don't use your Ryzom password (and your account name) elsewhere on the Internet if possible. This includes guild webpages and TeamSpeak/Ventrilo servers.
- Don't use easy passwords, such as names, cities, animals, TV shows... any recognisable "word". Don't use your date of birth or your address either.
- Don't have a short password (8 characters is the longest you can use for Ryzom, and it should be fine).
- Have letters and numbers in your password; if you can include other characters as well (for example ¬!"£$%^&*_) and make the letters both uppercase and lowercase then that's even better.
- Random passwords are the best; you can make random-looking but easy to remember passwords quite simply. "Good passwords for example - sentence first letters": Gp4e_s1l
- Try to change your password regularly - once a year at least is good.
- Don't share your account with anyone, even if you think they are your friend !
