Flyers for local publicity

Post by onirim35 »

I live in Rennes (France), and my city is really full of Roleplaying, gaming and "GN" players.

I think creating a lot of flyers to drop in games associations, games shops, etc.

Maybe i'll link an example (in french) tomorrow :)

i thinks that's a good idea,

we should also make a list volonteers with there location (city and state) and each of them could make a list of the association we could visit.

Flyers why not , i think it's good to. But you/we need to have more information on how we can create them , print them and so distribute them.

An idea to dig, but I like it.

A fairly simple and inexpensive way to start this rolling would be for someone to create a flyer or two that would look nice printed from the typical home color printer...

How about distributing them at game tournaments ?

There are several game tournaments throughout the world.
hobbies : 3d design, news about game designs, virtual reality

Still thinking about doing a full 3d rendering of Fyros (call it Ryzom 3.0 if you like).

I´ve allready tried this approach in some of our local Gameing Stores and Gameing Pups, they´re full of such things.
And while flyers for traditional RPGs went away like buttered bread, mine for an Online Game, lay there like lead.

I think here in Germany especially it is a problem of a perceived "us against them" battle for players.

The traditional RPers and LARPers often see MMOS as "stealing their players" and vice versa. I must admit to finding myself attending much less LARPs since playing Ryzom, but I tried to balance it. So when I asked around a bit I encountered people sneering at the very Idea of starting an Online Game, because it would take away time from their original hobby.
The same went for my advances on RPG Forums I attended. Mostly I got snide replies for promoting the "wrong kind of game" in there, even as a long standing member. Only some very, very few people really took interest and tried the game. All sadly left again after only a few weeks of play and to 99% gave the answer of "this game taking up too much of the time they need for other games." :(

I have no Idea how this is in other countries, but most of the time MMO-Players don´t seem to be the type to go out into Gameing stores and look at leaflets, maybe the local "Game-Store" to buy their latest Game and leave, but they´re sadly not that "social".
Everything runs by Teamspeak or other Programs, not a nice evening at the bar with friends.

Anyway, my flyers back then look somewhat like this (original file lost in HDcrash)

Back:
The Saga of Ryzom is a third generation MMORPG with a very RP friendly
environment and a very adult community, a unique living, breathing world
which gives you as a player many unique approaches to gameing.
No set classes, no set actions, no set way to play.
Be what you want to be and become a part of Atys history.

Look at http://www.ryzom.de or ask at the counter for more info!

I´d made a small portfolio with screenshots and more info that I´d
asked the owners to put under the stores counter in case someone asked about it.
As far as I know in the two years it lay there about a dozen people ever asked for it. *sigh*

Anyway, good luck with your project, maybe I took a wrong approach.
