The first version of this project is dated of October 2005.
The project hereby presented is based on a simple yet dynamic idea. The world of Ryzom a left his mark in the mind of every player who has taken part in the experiment. Ryzom generates a real entouthiasm, even passion among its players, and it has thousands of fans.
The comic books are a by-product of this powerful universe, which insures them a quick success. In the case of Ryzom, we have two items who just fit together.
Every page of the comics series will be pre-published on the official Ryzom website, once a week. It will become a must-see for the fans and Ryzom players alike, and a good way of promoting the series. Once an agreement has been settled between owners of the «Saga of Ryzom» licence, the authors, and a publisher, the comic book will be released.
The other scope is to shed light on the saga and the origins of Atys, where the game takes place, thus offering another view of the universe and the storyline of Rizom.
...
...
Project: started, scenario and storyline of this comic is already writed for two european format comics-book.
Required: an licence-cession contract for the comic book.

My project is just a professionnal project, not a simple webcomic... juste another idea by an professionnal illustrator, with a professionnal presentation document reserved by NDA with Nevrax:

Re: Ryzom Comic book
Ah, this one.
Yeah I know it. But I´ve only seen these two pages thus far.
Are there more?
And I don´t think of a Webcomic as simple, sorry
The Art is done in traditional ways and scanned, as far as I know.
And, it´s just another expression of the same Art.
And can be read by far more people additionally.

Re: Ryzom Comic book
Difference is just the point of exploitation licence for professionnal edition, your point is just: it´s just another expression of the same Art

Uhm, yes. And of course it is.psychee wrote:Difference is just the point of exploitation licence for professionnal edition, your point is just: it´s just another expression of the same Art
It does not matter whether it is a web-based comic, or one printed on paper.
Both are expressions of the same form of art. Comic book writing and drawing/painting.
Only, one is presented to only a relatively small amount of customers, because a printed comic does sadly have not that many readers as a comic presented on the web. At least that is my personal experience.
That you do own the license to create such a comic is great for you of course and it compliments your art greatly, but even if Komissar does not yet have this official backup (from a company that does not exist anymore, by the way) his goal is the same. The promotion of Ryzom through the medium of art and thus by comic
Maybe the new owners can grant him official license too?
Why not, his work is great and it certainly would help to spread the word.

Re: Ryzom Comic book
Hey mates.
First off - Psychee congrats on marvellous art. Your comic pages show what a great professional comic artist you are.
Second - The License that you supposedly have was issued by Nevrax and we do not have any confirmation that it was ever included in the "full package" for either Gameforge or Spiderweb, whoever they are... Basicly you are in same position as me right now I have also applied for an official "sure why not" from the new owners. They keep silent - I wonder if you'll get more outta them
Third - Webcomic and printed comic are slightly different things and they don't really compete with each other. SoR had webcomics before - quite simple things for humour only. Mine is a storyline (Kitin Scriptures) based. But still a webcomic only.
Fourth - "My project is just a professionnal project, not a simple webcomic... juste another idea by an professionnal illustrator" That is very nice of you to say, but in our project we also have a professional illustartor with over 10 years of experience. I'd suggst to quit pointing fingers on account of who's professional and who's not. You are evidently a professional Comic artist while Antrocit (our artist) is a professional illustrator. Your work certainly looks more like a real comic though at the same time it doesn't make ours worth less as art.
Fifth - in your webcomic the game matter is subject to artistic interpretation. Basicly what i mean is you twist Ryzom to fit your style, while we adapt our style to fit Ryzom...
Bottomline: I see no reason why these two works wouldn't be able to coexist... The more ryzom-based art the better imho. Your art is lovely and certainly a lot more comic-like than ours but I'd prefer to refrain from comments about lack of professionalism. They are mostly subjective and quite offensive aswell.
Cheers

Re: Ryzom Comic book
I've been talking a bit with Psychee, and i think there has been a bit of a misunderstanding.
What she meant is that she's been working with an editor , in order to use this comic as a promotional tool for the Saga of Ryzom on the web,and a paper edited by Delcourt.
The comic plot being written using SoR main plot, she had to sign a non disclosure agreement, and the scenario was validated by DCC and Xavier Antoviaque.
That is why she can't get it as a webcomic without a license (that she is not pretending to have), and its being based on the main plot is what would put it apart from a fan based comic, like the one done by Komissar (which i'm pretty eager to read ) or what anyone else would do...
That's it more or less, i hope i helped to clarify the situation a little. She clearly didn't want to diminish Komissar's work, and she pretty much sucks at typing english

Ah, so its all down to that damned language barrier again.
Alright, an official storyline comic is surely a great thing!
And so is Komissars
So, wonderful they´re both good to go I guess
