READ THIS FIRST : How to post in this Marketing forum

Post by Yumeroh »

Introduction

We believe there is nothing that a large community of enthusiastic volunteers can't accomplish, and this Marketing Forum exists to unite the community into one cohesive marketing force that even competitors with unlimited resources can't compete with. We know you have tons of idea to spread Ryzom all over the world and some ideas we'll never think of. There are already other examples of community-driven marketing campaigns, such as Spread Firefox, and we hope that the Ryzom community can be the best of them all. Feel free to look at some of the ideas that Spread Firefox came up with for inspiration.

We have a limited Marketing budget compared to big MMORPGs so we have to find smart ideas that can create a buzz and make Ryzom known all over the world! The best ideas you come up with will get help from us and join our other marketing campaigns.

So that we can all get the most out of your efforts, this Marketing Forum is strongly moderated; all posts/threads that don't follow the rules will be deleted/edited or moved to the Brainstorming Subforum.

How to help

You want to help us; thank you very much! There are three ways to do that.

The first way is to join an existing idea that you like and you want to promote - all you have to do is reply to the idea thread saying that you want to take part in this idea. The idea creator (the manager of the idea) will then add you to the team for their idea.

The second way is what to do if you haven't fully thought your idea through yet, or if you just want to think up some ideas or suggestions and get some opinions from the other players. Look in the Brainstorming Subforum and read the sticky thread at the top to see how you can contribute!

The third way is to a create a new idea and become the manager of it. In this case, you should create a new thread following the rules below. Creating an idea is not just posting a new thread though; it also means that you have to find and recruit some members to join your idea. Once you've got a team together, you should manage them and talk with them to create a "plan of action". Once you've done this, launch the idea and follow your team to success! If you think that you have a great idea, but don't feel confident in being the manager for it, then post your idea in the Brainstorming Subforum following the rules and put "[Need Manager]" in the thread subject.

Rules on how to post a new thread

One thread = One idea
This will keep the forum tidy and allow everyone to understand your idea more clearly. An example of an idea might be to create stickers and spread them around.

Have a clean, small description of your Marketing idea
Once you have given us the title of your idea (following our example, "Ryzom Stickers!"), you should give us a short description of the details. Its should be enough to explain your idea to us clearly, but shouldn't include too many details that aren't really necessary.

Before posting a new thread, make sure that your idea has not already been proposed by someone else.
You never know, someone might have already had the same idea as you. Before you make a new thread, use the search function at the top of the page and see. If you find that someone has already posted it, feel free to add your comments to their thread and join the project.

In the content of the post, you must have:

- Explanation of your idea (see above)
- What is required to carry out your idea (number of people, material, money)
- How long it takes to prepare it (the time before you can actually start)
- How long it takes to do it, or how long it will last (some tasks can go on forever like "Post about Ryzom on all of the MMO boards on the internet")
- The list of users who have agreed to take part in your idea
- A timeline of the different stages of your idea (unless you only have one stage)
- If you've already carried out your idea, give us a summary of what happened, the results you got...

Brainstorming
If you can't post all of this information in your thread for whatever reason, or if you just want to throw some ideas around before committing yourself to a project, please post it in the Brainstorming Subforum. In this forum we encourage you to be creative and just come up with more ideas - we won't moderate it as strictly and you don't have to be as specific as in the main Marketing Forum.

Rules on how to reply to a thread

In order to keep the forum clean and not to stray from the subject, you should only reply to the threads here for these reasons:
- You want to be part of the team who will prepare/execute the idea
- You want to add some information (if you are already a part of it) or ask some questions about the idea (if you're not already part of it)
