One oddity I never really noticed till I started doing stun outta team for new guildies was that making a affinity spell with no sap credits still eats sap like hell. So a 140 spell with say a 120 HP credit 10 range and 10 time thrown on a kipee will continually suck my sap bar down till my HP bar is full (despite the credit) yet after the 15th or 16th mob, I am totally sapped out.

That's because affys have a "per tick" upkeep to maintain the link totally seperate from the casting cost. Longer you hold the link, the more sap it burns
3:1, 2:1, 1:1 ... probability factor of one to one; we have normality. I repeat: we have normality. Anything you still can't handle is therefore your own problem.

there is a window (not sure what the shortcut is cause i changed most of my keys) that you can make visible and to see the upkeep of the spell. its called 'active links' or somesuch.

This goes for DoT spells too. You can set the credits for the cast itself like normal, but the upkeep cost per tick is always fully paid for in sap. The 'active links' windows has no shortcut key by default, but you can bring it up from the 'windows' window.

Would "sleep" make a mob not see you so the other team mate could sneak past a mob? And does it aggro the mob after the spell is broken?jared96 wrote:...

Understand that....but I wuda thot that the upkeep was some how related to how you built the spell. If ya make the spell with sap credits, I'd expect the upkeep to drain sap. well, yeah, good point. However most of my affy spells would drain sap AND life if that were the case and at a faster rate too if it were based on casting cost. It all depends I guess on the lvl of your affy relative to the lvl of your available credit stanzas. If you are an AoD using say, a lvl 8 affy, you could probably make it drain only life, but at affy 13 I don't think thats possible. Except for Root, I use a lot of range creds in mine, but even though its not as heavy as ele casting, they still use pretty high creds for both hp and sap.
I have noticed there are times when the link upkeep seems inordinately expensive, even for the MA I usually wear when affying - and this does seem to be a bug, as I've found unequiping everything and re-equiping does seem to make the link cost go back to a more normal level.
