The owner has said nothing on the matter, but it probably won't stay F2P.

I think the new owners have given us enough "hints" that the game will NOT remain F2P forever.

- They are currently releasing set amounts of unlimited FREE TRIAL keys.
- They invited developpers interested in the NeL engine to test its possibilities by grabbing one of said keys "while this opportunity lasts".
But before you 'get stuck in', if you don't know our game and our 3D engine and want to test and see it running, you can download a FREE Ryzom client here, and you can also easily create a FREE Ryzom account to access our game on this page (Hurry up, no credit card required for the moment Wink).
(If this isn't a dead giveaway, I don't know what is.)
- They hinted that they would be re-opening the billing system as soon as they are satisfied enough with the results of the current test-phase (STEP 4).
- They hinted that they found a way to bypass the billing system to give older unsubbed/expired accounts a chance to play again while those still don't have access to the main forums because of said billing system (STEP 3)

It's all about reading in-between the lines. Billing will resume whenever the new owners feel ready for it. "When" is still unknown data.

So my advice is to enjoy your trial as much as you can, and I hope you find it enjoyable enough to be worth paying for. In my case, it is. :D

Ohhh. i see. sorry hear that , because i´ll not pay . ryzom looks like a great game, a good option F2P. Now, P2P no way, i think everyone ( trial ) will spend your money in the nex-gen MMO´s on the market.

the trial bought me. I mean really a smaller developer should be bragging that they're doing the things that they are/did instead of of thinking that the whole "If you build it they will come" type thing actually exists for MMOs.

The only reason for not getting someone to spend a day a month checking MMORPG sites making sure press releases are up to date and offering interviews is if the game sucks, and the developers think so too. Something that clearly isn't so.

It's making me start to wonder if they are more interested in Ryzom, or only in using it as a demo for the engine?

No news on development of the game or what direction it's going, then suddenly all the interest in the Nel engine.

The engine is open source. This means anyone can play around with it all day making games and hosting them totally free. However, if someone wants to go commercial with a game created from the engine, royalties and fees would then apply.

The engine is open source and has been from the first day. No "royalties and fees" apply. The idea is that other teams and individuals do use the engine for their own projects, private or commercial, and thereby improve it, add features, fix bugs.

you dont understand bud.... first of all, ryzom is very good, but whats happens here? the new owner (or something like that) are using this free time to ambush players. All news about ryzom are fakes or misunderstood then... here in Brazil MMO´s forum, the admin wrote a post wichs says " ryzom now Free to Play ". Wow, a lot of brazilians players made accounts and start " spend " time in build char; ok, very good... then after some weeks, everything will be change and ryzom chance to P2P again... and now? i´ve to pay to continue building my char, or just leave and " waste " my time. Im just talking about fake news.
