playing with other races ? please help out a possible newguy :)

Planning on playing Ryzom with a friend - but Im thinking of playing another race than him - how would that work in the game ?
He heard some rumor about it being almost impossible to travel from one major city to another, does that mean that I must play the same race as him or what ? A little confused here, could someone please explain it ?

I strongly suggest you play the same race.
To travel between continents is *very* hard at low levels.

ehm, but there is no solution in the game, getting an escort or using some teleport thingie ? cause I really got stuck on this certain race with the bone masks

Escorts are certainly possible, I know on the NA server our guild will gladly escort folks that need it. As far as teleports, you don't get those until you reach the place that you want to teleport to.

thanx - at least I know its possible - Id hate it if there was no possible way off settling down in the same area as my friend.
Btw, how does apartments work ? Can I get an apartment in another city or am I generally stuck in a certain area according to my race ? If thats the case, thats going to affect my decision to play the game or not

I *believe* that you can buy an apartment anywhere they sell them, but I could be wrong.

Thanx again - the download is almost finished now - just an hour away from finding out more on my own
I guess Ill give it a try - if its completely impossible I guess I switch to the same race as my friend... would hate to miss out on having an avatar I really fancied though...
