What I'm looking for...
What I'm looking for...
I wasn't really sure where to post this, so if this is the wrong place I apologize. I'm looking for a guild for my main character, but so far I haven't been able to find any that fit my play style. I like to RP with actions, but not really with words. For example, I've decided that my character is going to be a sage who's looking to understand as much as possible about Atys and the universe. Also, though, my character dislikes both the Kamis and the Karavan, for reasons I'd rather not get into right now. I'd therefore rather not be a member of a guild that associates with either faction. So my choice of guild will be based on RP motivations, as will the goals my character pursues (such as collecting amber cubes), but I'd rather not be forced to speak in character, which I'm bad at and don't particularly enjoy. On the other hand, I AM interested in guild-based PvP and the whole outpost war thing. So, I'd like to find a neutral guild that at least makes a serious effort to control outposts, etc, but which won't force to me to be "in character." Are there any guilds like this?
Re: What I'm looking for...
Hello and welcome on atys
I don't really think you'll find a neutral guild who is involved in a lot of outpost war.
There is some neutral guild with outpost but when there is outpost battle, they stay neutral and don't take part on wars.
But you can check on the guild list to know wich guild is neutral.
If you really like the pvp and op battles you should join a karavan or kami guild.

Neutral doesn't necessarily mean pacifist. There have been plenty of Neutral, outpost-battling guilds in the past. Neutral is just a bucket for guilds who aren't, for a wide diversity of reasons, Kamist or Karavaneer. I don't know what the current situation is, though, with regard to who does what and how.

Re: What I'm looking for...
Hey mate,
I am pretty sure there are a couple solutions for you.
If we look at PvP first, on one side of the field there are guilds that belong to the Kami alliance and are in truth kami (lets call em Type A), there are guilds that support the kami cause in battle but are considered neutral (lets call em Type B) and there are guilds that are karavan aligned for tps and even RP-wise but almost always support only kami in battle, these guilds are sometimes also called the "free thinking tryker" (Let's call em C). On the other side of the field there are the Karavan guilds (both matis and tryker) that belong to the "Karavan Alliance" and will always fight to support their allies (lets call em Type D), the Karavan Matis and Tryker guilds that do not belong to the Karavan alliance for various reasons (either not yet or they have left it in the past) but who still fight on karavan side
(lets call em Type E). At present A,B,C=2,5xD,E and most outposts on the server are held by the Kami alliance and their supporters... Hope you get the general OP PvP picture this way.
There are so called True Neutral guilds that either refrain from PvP altogether or will only defend their own outposts and their neutral allies.
All the main RP on the server fits into this category.
Now what does this leave us with? In fact eventho we have already shown 95% of political scope of Arispotle some choices still remain.
1. There used to be Mercenary guilds - Hero for Hire and money goes first kind of guys.
- One of them was Samsara - a semiRP-full RP guild that would hire for money at OP wars (i must note here that for some reason they almost always wound up on the kami side of the field tho). This guild consisted of some really interesting, mature and friendly people that did a lot of RP. Only a few of them remain now (most hav left Ryzom for Lotro and other places). You can try asking in Uni for Samsara (players Rashan, Kostika)
- Another such guild was Exodus Syndicate. This is a Ryzomean branch of a large guild from games like WoW and Age of Conan. They have their set of rules and their moto: "One guild, one goal, Domination". These guys are casual or Non RP in chat. In the past they positioned themselves as a mercenary guild and would hire for OP wars but also somehow always wound up on the kami side... (to me they seem practically a part of kami alliance now but that is only a private opinion). There are also nice mature players among them and they are quite numerous
too. You can contact Sherkalyn, Nightblade, Pelian.
- There was also a guild called the Night Crew led by Nightblade. Purely mercenary, semi to non-rp in chat they were also hiring out for OP wars though never as numerous as either Samsara or Exodus Syndicate. Nightblade himself joined Exodus Syndicate later and I have no idea what happened to the guild alas... You can ask him in game
1. There is still another option - 1 guild that fits into no categories whatsoever...
- That guild is called "Apostles". It was started by two famous PvPers (both kami at that time) Jackoba and Tyilin. It broke free from the kami alliance and tried to play it's own theme. They got a few members and then have decided to go karavan. Go karavan they did and even joined the Karavan alliance. All the while these guys fought valiantly at OP wars. After this Jackoba and Tyilin left the game for a while leaving Lunachic as Guild leader. Then Lunachic and the remaining "Apostles" have decided to go their own independant way and managed to leave the Karavan allience in a rather friendly manner. For a little while they still fought on karavan side but then a whole new strategy was adopted. The guild has declared themselves PvP neutral (karavan for teleports only) and started supporting ONLY ATTACKING GUILDS at outpost wars. This was something totally unheard of at the time. These guys would fight kamis today and karas tomorrow gradually gaining friends and enemies in both camps. They were quite famous in PvP (Lunachic often acted as general or PvP leader on the battlefield) and yet belonged to neither camp and were not mercenaries.
Today after the resurrection of Atys Lunachic and the Apostles are back in game. I am not sure how many there are now (there were never more than 5-6 players in the past). But I know they are present. In the past this guild was known to be nonRP-casual in chat but quite a unique action-wise rPer on the battlefield. They had both US and EU members and Lunachic himself is a great leader that would do everything for his members. Lunachic would not take "just anyone" so there were only mature and nice people in this guild. I suggest you contact him in game or ask in Uni chat if any Apostles are on
Hope this helps mate, Welcome to game and have a great time on Atys!
(you can always contact me in game for more info but i am a karavan aligned player so as many will tell you my viewpoint also can be biased )

Re: What I'm looking for...
Komissar is pretty much spot on when it comes to the Exodus Syndicate. A few of us are technically Kami for tagged PvP (am not) but most of us are neutrals both by game-mechanics (non factioned) and won't get involved in politics and propaganda. And being friendly with the members of the Kami alliance doesn't mean being officialy part of it.
We are a helpful bunch of crazy happy homins, some of us are more loud-mouthed than others and we are currently working on the rebuilding of our official Ryzom branch. We are hunters, crafters, harvesters, traders, mercenaries for hire and we are currently looking for more members. Feel free to contact one of us, and hang around. We enjoy company and will make a pleasure to give you some answers.
Take as much time as you want to chose your guild, the door will be opened if you ever happened to find ours as the closest fit to the description of whatever you're looking for.

Re: What I'm looking for...
You may also have a talk with RRA (Kyerna - they are part of a third religion not implemented in the game mechanics but present in the lore), VVV(Sylastia), or House Etchmark (Jeziellia) - all RP active guilds.

Re: What I'm looking for...
Thank you all a lot for the helpful and expedient replies. The Apostles and the Exodus Syndicate definitely sound interesting, I'll have to look into them more. I have to say, I'm amazed at how helpful, mature, and generally encouraging the community here is, even though the game only just started back up so recently.
Re: What I'm looking for...
One other thing to consider is the lore has been removed from the official site and edits to the lore could mean huge shifts in individual guild polices.
We really know nothing of what is planned for the future and what changes to established lore (if any) will occur. We don't know if there will be guild missions next week, next year or ever. We don't know if history has been forgotten and all the old stories will be replaced with new ones or not replaced at all. Right now there is just a lot we do not know.
I would say that many guilds are in a holding pattern waiting to see what changes and edits are in store. Will the saga return, or will the factional difference only be marked by TP locations and a different looking set of guards. If the lore stays off of the official site and is in short dead, then I foresee very little faction loyalty and a very different in game culture.
Regardless of what happens though, there is certainly a place for a strong guild based on what you are looking for. I think the names of the most likely guilds to fill that niche have already been mentioned but some guild will rise up using that template and dozens more if the lore is removed.
I'd recommend taking your time, there is no hurry to join up with anyone if you are having fun now. However, if you do start to get lonely, I really can't think of a guild that would be upset about you joining them until you found (or have the ability to create) what you are looking for.
