95% of the time no cursor, or keybord

About 95% of the time the game loads one of 2 things either happens.

1.) mouse cursor does not appear, but, I can turn with the mouse, Zoom in/out.

2.) No keyboard, can not move, type, remap keys or anything, but, i have a mouse.

I have the latest drivers for all my hardware.

I have deleted the config file and save files for the chars in the save folder.

I have tried to tab out and back in, but , If I tab out the game will not restore, it stays minimized, and I have to use task manager to close it down. I cant even right click on the name bar and highlight close and click it to close it, it just ignores it.

I am using..

Windows Vista 32 premium

Intel core 2 6400
Nvidia Gforce 9700 GTX
2GB RAM
Soundblaster Audigy 2

This is starting to drive me insane, so any help is appreciated.

Pop it up in 'windowed' mode first to see if that fixes your problem, then ingame :

hit "U" to open the control panel, go to "mouse" (i think.. or input devices -> mouse) and switch to "Hardware Mouse".

or something similiar.. let us know what happens.


EDIT :: ooh also, make sure you have the background downloader deactivated
(Go to your ryzom folder, open "client.cfg" in notepad, and either find the BackgroundDownloader = 1; and change the 1 to a 0, or if it's not there (i dont remember if it comes default..) add BackgroundDownloader = 0; to the end of that list)

the bkgnd downloader takes attention away from ryzom for a minute, then back to it - this causes insane amounts of problems and is totally a waste of time. *coughwasn'tagoodideatoimplementcough*

Bkgnd downloader + Vista = pain.
Bkgnd downloader = pain anyway

Also take a look at the Vista set-up guide. following one of the 2 steps will help eliminate the possibility of Vista security causing your problems.

Also there is this thread about Vista and keyboard/mouse problems.

I keep getting the same problem too, except I use XP. It worked fine a couple of days ago.

I mistyped I have a Nvidia 7900gtx..

Well, I turned off the downloader, and put it in windowed mode.

And so far it seems to be working.

It seems to load a lot faster also in windowed mode.

I have all details maxed, even all of the other details in the graphic options in game set to max like polly count, distance, ect, and it is running great.

So, as of right now I am saying if it isn't broken don't fix it. and staying in window mode at 1280x1024. Might try full screen again later, but once I start playing I don't even notice, So I really could care less anymore.

The list of things I did.

1.) went to windowed mode
2.) turned off the auto downloader (makes starting the game faster also.).
3.) I re downloaded my video drivers and reinstalled them for good measure.
4). Made sure I had it set to run as administrator.

So, until I log in and it does not work again, i am considering it solved for myself, Could care less about Full screen anymore, others may, but, I don't.

I have logged in about 8 times, so far it has worked every time.

Well I spoke to soon, It has now done it 2 more times.

Once I was just moving my cursor across the screen and it disappeared mid screen and I was able to get the reg PC cursor to minimize it and I thought maybe if I restored the screen it would come back.

Nope, the screen turned white and the title bar says not responding, and set for for 10 minutes so I closed it down.

Second time, it didn't load with the cursor.

I have tried the hardware cursor which is default and I tried the other both do the same thing.

I have ran out of things to try, I have went to all the vista threads and checked those and everything I can do is done.

PS. I also uninstalled the game and reinstalled it, same thing.

Hope this get fixed sometime.
