To the New Owners...

Post by dlixus »

Wow! I never anticipated a return so quickly. [X-fingers] I don't want to jinx the possibility of the servers coming back up any day now. I’m happy that the official forum is back though a bit sad that I’m limited to the New Comer Welcome board.

I was reviewing an old post in which I asked how veteran players would feel about a possible new start, some old and new players discussed the lore, ryzom ring, roleplay, and submitted good ideas to the possible direction Ryzom can undertake if the new owners adhere to the suggestions.

Danolt brought up many good points regarding the Ring and how the new owners can use it to implement new areas and possible angles to the storyline, something that seems to be missing and wanted by the veterans.

Iphdrunk commented on the imbalance that developed with outposts, a feature that was poorly employed and the failure of the PvP system which was apparently ill received by the players. And also the incomplete fame feature which sounds like it had no real impact in-game.

Katriel and Acridel shed some light on the lack of communication and OOC cooperation missing in Arispotle’s RP community. Plus the OOC conflicts that developed from the players who joined either faction (Kami/Karavan) and how that seemed to overshadow the Arispotle RP community.

And Riveit pointed out the cross-Atlantic problems and the separations of a divided time zone community which brought major conflicts primarily in Outpost wars.

I don’t know what changes you will add, fix, or even take away, in order to improve the game. I think enthusiast Ryzom players will be happy just to be able to play, but the veterans who have stuck-it-out through two bankrupts and kept Ryzom alive for 3-years are owed more than just a return of the servers. The game imbalance is clear and very audible; the original designers have moved on, I think it is time to fine-tune Ryzom to accurately suit reality and the desires of the paying customers. (I included as soon as I can register my key).

The list of what needs smarten up is quite long but half the job is already done. What is needed is time and devotion to the vision, plus promotion of Ryzom not by the community but by the owners.

Maybe a fresh star is the way to go, but not one that will penalize the old players who have spend many hours leveling the 80 skills, a fresh start of the lore and the poor implemented features that have affected the game subscribers and possible new ones requires highest consideration. As new owners you can’t please everyone but you can improve and learn from the errors of former owners and work with the established community in bringing Ryzom to its potential.

I’ve never spoken so strongly about a game before, much less for a game that I barely know. But I do understand the passion many share toward Ryzom, and in the short time that I played the excitement and overall in-game immersion I experienced can’t be easily found. Ryzom is far above the many unfinished MMORPG’s that are plaguing online gaming today. There are far worst games out there with higher subscribers that don’t even reach the level of Ryzom. I’m sure you’ve realized that and maybe that’s why you are here getting ready to give this gaming community new hopes and entertainment.

I know I’m only one player and my opinion bares no weight against Ryzom veterans if any other. However, as a new awaiting subscriber, make my money spend worth the time.

First off I and many other devoted fans of Ryzom thank you for picking a winner.
Many of us know from past posts that most of the troubles with ryzom came from the games initial startup costs, which led to no advertising etc, etc. We hope you will support your investment and plan on completing 3 major steps.
1) Do not change the game in anyway for now. There are literally dozens of things the original developers left incomplete and finishing these projects will enhance the game.
2) Advertise and when your done, advertise some more. Let the world know your here and intend to stay. Sure we would all like to see Ryzom get a following along the size of WOW but, huge numbers do not mean everything. WOW's reputation is worsening (whether its deserved or not) due mainly not to its company or changes in the game but, its community.
3) Listen to your paying customers, not just the few more vocal but, the majority.
We're here and ready to return. It may take some time but, gradually all our old friends will return. Hopefully, they will bring more with them and from there the snowball will grow.
Thanks for saving Ryzom and thanks for saving us from the dull, repeative games out today.

I am willing to pay whatever fees and back charges I need to pay to get my real account back up and running. I am not sure what happened, but somehow my real account got locked when everything went into transition near the end of 2007. My real username is: teylini and I hope I can re-activate that account when everything gets turned back on.

Thank you!

*waves everyone*

Heya I'm a returning newbie player as well, this is a trial account I was using when I couldn't get my paid account on live this winter.. ; ; I had moved away last summer and encountered financial issues and decided to not return to Ryzom as I could afford only one mmo at a time (I know what a tragedy!) When I did decide to come back ,lo and behold the game was going down and paid accounts could no longer be reactivated. My old username was Hazira, hope I can get this account back eventually.

I never counted on missing this game as much as I did when it was gone, every other game while fun does not have the charm this game has.
Advertising, I hope there's much more of it!! I never knew about this game for a long time after it was released until I discovered Direct2Drive and this game was listed. -.- Finishing what was started NEEDS to be done, people have been waiting for years quite literally for these things, I'd like to see regular updates we can count on.

Other then that, I want to see who's bought the game!! But so does everyone here. :P

Wow. I'm pretty excited to see the boards back. It's certainly a good sign.

I miss the desert and I think that I even miss being pounced on by Kitins. Give it another few months and I might even miss those silly pale treehuggers :)

I'd probably come back even if it was as a fresh start. I miss the people, community and just the sense of family that I found here. It would be nice if they work out the whole content thing, but it's the people that I miss more than anything. It might even be kinda nice to have everyone on a level playing field again. (Though if they just bumped the levels again, I'd have something to keep me focused....300 here I come :)

Watching and waiting patiently.

I don't know if a fresh start would be that fresh though.. It would mean that the world is back to day 1 wouldn't it? Ryzom's history would be lost and Arys would be even more dangerous to the newbie then it was as there will be no elder players that can help you for some months. It sounds like a brand new start would be fun, but what would it really mean in the long run?

Either way I look forwards to coming back, Age of Conan is so getting the boot if/when this game comes back :D

I think what most players want is a completion of what is already in game. Ryzom is playable and enjoyable nothing should be taken away, just completed. A wipe of the characters would not benefit Ryzom and it would really hurt those who have been there through two bankrupts.

No Higher Players for months?

Post by hijati »

If you think that there wont be higher level players for months then you havent grinded with some of us...we can get to 250 in a week...the first one is always the hardest but you know what a group can do it easy. Now crafting is a different story...that is where you will find that we will be waiting alittle longer to be able to get all the mats we need to get our crafting levels up there again...thats the biggest pain...but hey digging for supremes is fun!!!!

I cant wait for the game to return i know that if im not floating around on some carrier in the middle of the ocean somewhere i will be one of the first ones on ATYS whether im lvl 1 or still have my old levels i will be there...*mumbles: hope i have my old levels not much left below 150 that was alot of work* :D

As far as game content, over all the game works great i know there are things people wanted to get changed but a big thing is just to work on the completion of the ideas in effect. Some things are minor and would not take long to complete if the old devs could start on them again, but that is a desicision the company would have to make to bring them back.

Personally the one thing that i want is a boss timer that is randomized so people cannot camp bosses. As one of the premiere boss hunters along with many others we can all vouch that we had the timers down to a science of a hours on some bosses to a few minutes on others. If we could randomized them i think that would make it so other people have a chance to kill the bosses and get the mats.

LOOK FORWARD TO THE RETURN OF THE HIJATINATOR

Glad some of the confusion is gone, now am waiting almost but not quite patiently for servers up, really do not care what server just server up... :)

Wish to thank the new owners for buying, would have been nice if they had made a minor post, saying ok, forum is up, we bought the game, everything is currently being re worked tooled and set up to go back with target date of xx/xx/xxyy and do not call us, we wont answer, but we are throughly working on it.

As advice, as has been said 1k times prior to, previous owners faulted in one major aspect, they did not advertise anything anywhere, they let the in space current advertising continue, which is ok, but is not great.

That technique does not work, nothing works better than advertising, and much on mmorpg you can get 'free' advertising promoting Ryzom fairly easy, ask the old timers, they know plenty of ways and means to do this.

as for me, I played during its last year, 2-3 avatars, enjoyed thoroughly my adventures on Cho.
But if is a clean wipe, then is clean wipe. I know that people old timers know they can like said above, can get their first 250 level inside of a week and the rest are easy.

It just means working on your levels steady, and in a group you level up super fast.

I also know that very many old timers enjoy keeping nooby avatars on the island to help people out to get started... :)
One thing truly great about this game, so many people willing to help either get started or to just level up.
