According to the latest news from Xavier in this thread
the liquidation has been suspended. The dispute over who really
owns the assest is going to take a long time to settle(min 3-6 mos).
It can then be appealed(min 1yr).

Xavier e-mailed Klaas Kersting (GF's CEO) to try to work something out.
So far no reply.

For more information about Xavier's post, you can find it here:

And replying to maccer16... well, it is indeed a very different philosophy, with pros and cons, obviously. A new company taking over ryzom is really a good option, but open sourcing is a really the best alternative imho.

The only option which is not... acceptable, is keeping everything in the dark.

Although that might sound a bit dramatic, I'd tend to say that making Ryzom open-source will allow it to live forever.

Or, to be more precise, it will make it live as long as passionate players / developers have the will to keep it alive. Even if development itself might slow down at times, Ryzom shall live as long as it keeps its vibrant community, and I think the past few months have clearly shown that this is still the case.

I know that for once in my miserable life I had a place to come home to, and be loved, and that I had it on Atys, with all of you. The despair I'm feeling is indescribable. I just want to come home and be with my family. I love you all.
