Ok stupid question I know, but what is the object of this game??
It seems other MMORPGs have a basic object of the game that you are playing for, for instance:
DAoC - Level up your char so you can join in the RvR
EQ - Level your char to see how far you can lvl your char
AO - Level your char, join an org, have towers and a city and fight aliens and stuff
Shadowbane - Level your char so you can PvP and/or build cities
SWG - Level your char so you can be in a faction or a PA and have a house and do whatever
Anyways I was mostly wondering if this game is about leveling for the sake of leveling. Or is there something more to the game?
On a side note, I like how this is a "skill based" game so there is none of that pesky leveling here .
Stupid Question -- What's the object of the game??

Level your skills so you can bring your particular guild and race closer to glory and defend people from the kitin, all while assisting oyur choice of the Kami or karavan.

Aside from making my lower guildee's happy I run around, die a lot, and take as many cool screenshots as I can. I classify myself as a photographer!....sometimes I take pixs while my group is fighting though and end up taking pictures of corpses cuz I shoulda been healing...*halo*

My feeling is that the object of the game will eventually be to figure out the mysteries of the story. The problem is that the story hasn't started yet and won't till the second patch.

Taking part in the evolving storyline and guild quests/adventures which will be implemented, IMO.

To become the first to level in 250 in each skill branch.
First person to do that will be awarded the Medal of Stupidity by Nevrax.

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to prepare yourself in the upcoming weeks for the upcoming battles with the kitin and other hostile entities inhabiting the lands.
Your tools include your wits, the materials that are scattered throughout the lands, and your fellow players.
Choose which faction to side with: the Karavan, possessors of mysterious technology, or the Kami, nature loving spirits. Both at odds with each other, and trying to raly support from the various inhabitants.
But all is not known to the true motives of these factions. So choose wisely, and participate in the unfolding history that you can take part in, or just be an observer to the events. The choice is yours.

To divide the whining entertain-me-cause-I-payed-for-it and arguing I-want-whats-in-the-manual freaks from the true enthusiasts who stick with SoR no matter what.michdp wrote:Ok stupid question I know, but what is the object of this game??.
Once this process is finished the remaining 100 people will be get a free download of the REAL game which is SO rich of content and stunning graphics that the servers cant take more than 25 players each.
Furthermore there will be included an exclusive offer of beta-testing Ryzom 2 which is to be relased in spring 2005.
