No acridiel, its not like that, Merchant Mode is a system where, you leave your character in town with a goods for sale sign over their head, people who click on you can see what goods you have for sale and their price. They can only buy goods that you have for sale, not "dump" money into your characters inventory. At least gold has a function in LC as opposed to Ryzom, where dappers are redundant and making money is part of the gameplay, I loved wheeling and dealing there in the marketplace.
LC is a good game, regardless of the detractors that will most likely contradict me here, it has lots of innovative ideas to keep you interested in playing, like Treasure Chests that you get opened for you every few levels as a gift, Pandora Boxes that will spawn great loot, or a huge monster that you must kill for a ton of XP.
You can have two pets, one to mount and one to play by your side, the mounts are Flying Dragons or Horses, these provide incredible buffs. Why is raising a pet called farming? You have to train them by fighting along side them, they dont get XP unless you are fighting too. You also need to mine ore and harvest plants to feed and heal them.
Why play it instead of Ryzom? There is more to do there apart from just grind mobs, there are 1+ million players last I heard, so a very vibrant population, there are PvE only and Open PvP servers. Also i was lucky enough to have a bunch of quality Ryzom players there too from a social aspect.
So, please dont scorn a game just because it doesn't suit your taste, 1 mill+ minimum players vs 4k in Ryzom, they cant all be wrong surely?
