i have no idea how it will work.
ok looking at my chr this is what i dont understand.
i started off with 3 in magic. so i had no harvest/craft/fighting skills.
at lvl 25 i spent 50 magic points and got harvest.
at lvl 30 in harvest i spend 50 points and got crafting.
so if they remove all the skills spend and give them all back to me will i have no skills at all , loose all magic skills even the ones i started with. loose all harvest skills etc but just keep the lvls in each skills so i can spend my points up to those levels?
if this is the case would it be cheating to grab all the skill lines and then after the reset basicly you wont need to buy the 50 point starter kits for magic/harvest/crafting becasue you have lvls in them.
also when we get the reset will we be allowed to try out skills? the system has changed , skills cost diffrent amounts etc. do we get like a /skillreset command which we can use for the first hour of logging in? if not a skill reset may cause alot of problems for alot of people.
Im confused about the skill reset in patch 1

This is how i think the reset will work. Say your lvl 50 melee, 40, magic, 30 harvesting, and 20 crafting. Those will all stay at those level but all Skills you bought will be reset and you will be credit the points. So sorta like starting a new character with 50,40,30,20 and however many points to spend in each class.
Re: Im confused about the skill reset in patch 1
Chances are you will still retain what you learned from your starting pack, some things will be reworked and your starting skills will reflect this.lordzren wrote: so if they remove all the skills spend and give them all back to me will i have no skills at all , loose all magic skills even the ones i started with. loose all harvest skills etc but just keep the lvls in each skills so i can spend my points up to those levels?

As for getting a chance(even if its 1 shot) of resetting your skills after the reset is a poor idea. The new people who didn't have a chance at beta to test skills out didn't have this option. And contrary to what some people like to think, you can not gimp your toon (baring after reset not getting ANY Q increases in harvesting, and I'd say thats your own fault if you do that, same with crafting). Heal will still heal, nukes will still nuke, improved damage will still make melees hit for more, armor crafting will still let you make armor, etc. Worried about making a wrong decision? Then don't spend all your points on iffy posibilities. Get things you know what they will do, and save the remaining points til you get confirmation on what various 'unknowns' can do. Better to play conservative in this area rather than blindly 'wasting' points if you have concerns.
Re: Im confused about the skill reset in patch 1
After a reset, it is possible to gimp if you are not careful. For instance, a crafter who spends all his SP getting all the crafting patterns he can for melee weapons, but doesnt take the basic melee weapon crafting skill, would have a big problem.zzeii wrote: And contrary to what some people like to think, you can not gimp your toon

They shouldn't have a 'reset for doing something wrong when you know better' button.
Re: Im confused about the skill reset in patch 1
My advice on the reset. First off, we KNOW it is coming. Guess what that means, you can test around NOW. Wonder what X skill does, have the sp for it now...TRY IT...if you don't like it, grab a pad of paper and write down what you like and don't like.
I suggest gaining the levels that you can between now and then and exploring NOW, while you can make the mistakes and learn.
I also suggest that before the reset, that you sit down and write down your favorite skills, then look at the prerequisites of it and write THAT down. Do this with EACH class and skill you use. Also write down the skills that you use EVERY time you level that class, the tried and true, and write down the stanzas needed to get that skill.
Once the reset happens, I sugest when you log on...take a DEEP breath...or three, then go to the classes that are easiest to skill out (fighter for me, boost hp to max, boost stamina to max, boost regen to max, boost ignore armor to two or three, and increase damage to four, self heal hp to max, self heal stamina to as high as I have points left for...TA DA reskilled), then the next easiest (foraging for me, I know what I use, just need to write down if I HAVE to have the other skill to get this one etc), Magic and crafting are the ones I am looking forward to reset for. I NEED to be able to spend sp in other ways than I did, and I HOPE they changed the costs on spell skills.
It just makes NO sense to me that you can GET all the spells at certain levels...but even if you ONLY go in ONE branch of the tree (for instance ONLY acid damage) and ONLY use the upgrades NOT the full spell (which you spend MORE sp to get for stanzas you MIGHT already have, which is a waste) you still do not have the SP to buy ALL the spells of that ONE type up to your magic level...which is just plain STUPID to me. (For instance, JUST the acid damage, NOT the acid dot, not the bomb spell or AOE, just acid damage one, two, three and four. I can GET them roughly ten levels before I have the sp to BUY them...what the HECK is up with that one??!!).
If you were in beta, you would remember the crash test, when they dumped ALL beta testers onto ONE server, Yep German, French and English speakers ALL on one server...yeah...it was a BLAST.
They also pumped you up to level 50 ALL skills, and dumped onto you the money and SP of a level 50 (they wanted to test the WHOLE server...not just the noobland servers). It was a FUN time, getting to see what you could be "when you grew up". But you also learned that Sp spend SO quickly!
I don't think that action packages will be taken into concideration, I don't see that they make that big a difference over the life of your character anyway. You gain 10 sp per level you gain...so if you are level 51 in each class you will have 500 sp each in fighter, mage, crafter and forager...assuming you took each to that level.
I am still chosing to see this reset in a glass more than half full manner, pardon me if my rose colored glasses get in the way.
Good luck and see ya in game.

Re: Im confused about the skill reset in patch 1
Actually, assuming you leveld all skill branches equally, by the time you are level 51 you will have TONS more SP than only 500 per at level 51.lyrah68 wrote:I don't think that action packages will be taken into concideration, I don't see that they make that big a difference over the life of your character anyway. Fighter: 800
Magic: 800
Craft:1400 (!)
Forage:500
Granted, it does take a lot of work to do this.
I think it'll be a good thing as well, I am hoping they do take beginning skill packs into account though, I could do a lot with an extra 80SP.

Would I be wrong in thinking you've played AC2 at some point? Sounds just like what they did when they implemented the Craft2.0 system...lordzren wrote:. do we get like a /skillreset command which we can use for the first hour of logging in?
Call me Legion, for we are many...
Re: Im confused about the skill reset in patch 1
One of the main reasons for the skill reset is because of the changes in sp cost in craft/magic and the changing of the foraging tree on how it works. Spell costs and plan costs for crafting are going to be reduced from my understanding, so it will be a joyous day for crafters/magicians everywhere =)lyrah68 wrote: Magic and crafting are the ones I am looking forward to reset for.
